England v Iceland - Fri 7th June, 19:45 | Friendly

Hate to say it but I think our lads will have a poor Euro 24 tournament. It's a tournament too far for them after a marathon season, where do you find that extra energy from after playing 60 games in the past season?. Other players will be equally as poor as well and I can see us reaching the quarters and that's your lot
Best if they all just refused to play. Its sh*te intl football. Too many games by far

So, who made 2 goals against Bosnia and was then sent home...
Not there tonight and...
Southgate is a fucking clown.
Pissing away the best chance we have ever had to win a trophy since 1966..
The defence is poor and sub elite lad in nets = no tournament sides win with that nowadays. Int football is all about limiting opposition opportunity to score. Cant see us stopping the French for e.g.

Not watched but would Jack have made a difference?

i see sadly Johnny Glass is injured again. Hopefully it'll give him the summer off.
Yeah - England turgid in possession with very little penetration and very few chances created. Everything a bit disjointed. Crying out for what Grealish (and Maddison) did against Bosnia.

Early reports said Stones'll be okay, but I'm not confident he's in a state to play all of every match for however far England get.

Never any forward planning with waistcoat . Plenty of talk about new and exciting players in the squad but that is only because he persisted with the likes of Henderson and Rashford for far too long.

I laugh whenever I see Shaw at LB. Surely there's a better choice in all of the people around the world with an English parent.

he's rarely fit and a bit tubby but I think he's not a bad player when he's actually fit enough to play.

I don't think being slung in at CB for the rags when he's barely fit does him any favours.

When he's match fit and at left back he's OK, not a world beater but solid enough.

Anyone watching John Stones playing in the FA Cup final can see there's no way he's in condition to play every few days in tournament football.

England are so thin on talent at the back that they'll play him until he's crocked.

My bet is he won't last the group stage.

Keeps Mainoo and Gallagher whilst sending home Grealish and Maddison sums the bloke up. He cannot get beyond his two defensive minded midfielders and thus cannot possibly win a tournament.
He’s trying to play some sort of possession game but filling his team with player who don’t play like that.
Rags are an entirely counterattacking team, similarly Liverpool, Palace and Madrid with no idea what Chelsea are.

Phil is to good for England. And to many in the England team are selfish, this isn't a team but a group of average individuals
In this era of social media and personal self-aggrandizement, I’m not sure anyone can be surprised to see certain players looking for that “glory goal” that gets them recognized.

Pep would have a FIELD DAY with this squad and set a few minds straight on who they THINK they are! Most England players have never won a fucking thing in their careers, but think they’re God’s gift…and one or two who have have let it go to their head!

Once again, we head into a tournament with a completely underwhelming sense of success, but will be told repeatedly that “we have to have a tournament mindset,” which means boring can get you through to the knockouts and THEN we will see the best of the team!

Err, OK! Not convinced!

Any INTL manager who elects players based on some individual criteria he has seen from their team play has missed the boat on building a squad he can gel into a team that will play well together!

We have a team half full of players who do one thing for their team and are asked to do another, in a different system, for their country!

Good luck with that, Gareth!

Onenof the most technial, young and attack minded generation ofmfootnallers amdna coach stucl in 1990s "safe" football mode.

Start to team first game, fuck off rhe 2 DM bollocks and plays forward thinking football

NB. I would have Grealish on the left but an idiot never took him and realistically his defensive pick leave little options but that back 4

Southgate will play someone next to rice drop a left winger and play Foden there!

Spot on

Magoo, Gallagher, Never played tournament football, same with the palace players.
You need players that have done it before and done and dont freeze-in-the-spotlights, Grealish should be one of the first names on the squad sheet, He's got that knack of winning free kicks and winding up the other players

Waistcoat really hung Foden out to dry last night. That space was far too congested and he allowed the players to drift and not stay out wide and spread the defence. Kane is a menace, wanting to drop deep and play Hollywood passes. Dropped into Right back at one point. Stay up front you dribbling buffoon. Rice is a very limited in possession and Mainoo is far too raw and has little understanding of how to play the position. Palmer flashes but is far too ill disciplined in possession. Gordon is utter dross particularly against a low block and his delivery was useless. We have some wonderful players but a complete lack of balance. And he doesn't take a player who plays against low blocks constantly. The sooner he disappears to OT the better.

Imagine working with Pep every day and then having to work with Waistcoat. It's almost funny really, you can imagine what the likes of Phil are really thinking when Waistcoat is going through a gameplan.

It must be like telling a chess player who trained under a grandmaster how to play draughts.

Pickford

TAA Stones Branthewaite Gomez

Rice

Foden Bellingham

Saka Kane Grealish

That would have been my team for the Euros. I know Arnold is a liability at the back, but Walker adds next to nothing going forward and having three centre backs in the line up means Arnold can move into the middle.

I'd still go with Walker. Looking at how easily Iceland got through or over the top of England last night, its clearly something better teams will do more effectively. Walker's pace will be needed.

England are weak at the back, especially with Stones being half fit at best. I don't think they can afford a slower liability at right back.
