You’ve nailed it.
I knew I was Matilda May.

Funny that so many of you think I would be so obvious/transparent and devoid of thought that I would pick a tune from my last nomination....but then I am a dipper so devoid of thought is the norm.

We all know you're really an Accrington Stanley fan on the wum, you are too self-aware and reasonable to be a proper dipper.

Anyway better get my bum in gear and come up with some guesses. I'll take being accused of having the good taste to have nominated The Bad Plus although I assume this is a swapsie.

"Accrington Stanley....who are they"??
Must get there at some point as one of my grounds still to tick off my list

It was you bringing them up that made me put them against you. Not the fact you brought them up, as such but you said something that felt a bit loaded with it. Can't remember what, but remember thinking it felt out of character for you to half-mock someone else, where as you would happily poke fun at your own expense. That's my reasoning.

I think that was Bimbo, I just said that I'd seen them at Ronnie Scotts. They're entertaining, definitely worth seeing.

No I thought it was you, otherwise would have gone with Bimbo.

It was something about trying to be smart or along those lines. Felt like something you'd say about yourself but not about another etc.

Oh yeah, I mentioned I was going to be a smartarse and nominate their version of Karma Police but I meant after my RH meltdown so was sort of self deprecating but not about the music. For what it's worth I have Bimbo and you down as suspects for this one but then I have you down for three or four and as for Bimbo, what's the point of even trying to guess what's going on in his head musically at any given point in time :-))

Now for the big musical news of the weekend...

Last night was the first night of the Drive-By Truckers' Southern Rock Opera Revisited Tour that kicked off in Indianapolis, IN.

Of course the setlist was pretty much going to (mostly) follow the album tracks like Rush did when they performed "Moving Pictures" start to finish that I quite enjoyed seeing years ago.

A few twists are present as seen in the below, including their new song on Spotify released yesterday: "Mystery Song - 2024 Mix".

For a few months now I've been debating on this show indoors vs. Gary Clark, Jr., also in town for the same night at an outdoor venue. However with DBTs' 28 songs vs. GCJr's 16 songs and my slight lean to the DBTs and the good chance to see them up close again as I did a few years ago, I think last night's setlist with this album always the focus was the clincher. 2 great selections each off of American Band and English Oceans is also a major bonus in my book.

I hope the DBTs can make it over to the UK at some point after this mostly US tour (1 in Toronto) for those of you who want to see them to be able to. I'm feeling pretty fortunate to see them this upcoming Thursday night. As an altered take on the famous song "Women Without Whiskey", "DBTs are hard to beat".

I was fortunate to see them at the Manchester Ritz before Covid , great band live and on record.

My first DBT Concert.

My first DBT Concert.

Nice! Interesting how they played more off of The Dirty South and Decoration Day than their latest (at the time) of A Blessing and A Curse. Most bands would try to plow through the latest album, even if it weren't as popular as the prior ones. That was a good call on their part.

And of course Jason Isbell was with them at that time, so an extra bonus for the songs he did. DBTs also played "People Who Died" as an encore when I saw them a few years ago.

Seeing them in a small intimate venue for the current equivalent of £19 this week hardly seems fair, but that's reality.
