The only reason you think England aren't that bad is that the overall standard is lower than normal.
Spain look good and even they don't look as good as Spain teams from previous years.
Portugal Italy France Germany Netherlands not at their best and this England are no great shakes.
They can still go on to win the tournament but its not a vintage England team

Haven’t been watching BBC and I certainly won’t be, by choice, again.
I have criticised the British media not getting behind England before and also the PL divisions showing amongst your supporters too.
But listening to the commentary today was very cringeworthy. It was going over the top in bigging up what was a very mediocre performance.

Look mate, I was born in 1972, too young to remember City winning the ‘76 league cup, was nearly 40 before our next trophy and watched England winning nothing every 2 years since 1982. After suffering so long with club (until 2011) and country I would take a stinky win next weekend.
