If Phillips and Cancelo leave then we make a move for a midfielder surely? If Alvarez goes then again you bring someone in?

Granted, I have a long-held desire for the academy to bear first-team fruit, but winning the league with a team including Foden, McAtee, Lewis and Bobb would be wonderful, especially if others began to come through in other competitions.

Totally agree with this. Would be incredible to see academy players throughout the first team over the coming years
 
Obviously Phillips and cancelo aren’t considered city players in pep’s mind.

I’ve been saying for months it’s quite clear the plan is for Bernardo to play more central next season. He can play next to Rodri or kovacic when Rodri needs a break. This is more than sufficient cover imo.

We keep ederson and it’s been a good window imo

I agree with everything in the last paragraph until you said sign their replacements. Players that aren’t even considered part of the squad don’t get replacements. Only a first team player leaving who was part of last years squad and got a reasonable about of minutes will result in us entering the market. Philips and cancelo are not them. Couto and perrone not even close. Alvarez, Ederson, kova, nunes etc are. But it’s unlikely any of them leave with fees. It may not be what people want but it’s a stretch to suggest otherwise

Your right IF We don't sign a DM I can see pep going with Bernardo/ Kova. Hopefully nunes will improve this season too

I think/hope that you can switch Bernie, Rico, Jack and Kova to the central midfield positions.
RB will be Walker/Akanji
That would leave the wingers as Bobb, Doku, and Savinho with N'dala as a cup option.

Both in Pep's and the Club's mind, and on paper too.

Issue would be winning the ball in the air in the centre of the park. Rodri rarely misses a header. Fernandinho was also excellent in that regard. I’d like us to buy a player who can do that for us when Rodri isn’t playing.
