Paris 2024 Olympics Thread - 11th August (pg 430)

I think we should invite some of the London gang members onto the fencing team. When you consider the amount of knife and machete crime in London, there's got to be a couple of potentially great fencers amongst them.

What Marcus Rashford has done for British diving has revolutionised the sport, the longevity of his career.

He's done it as a youngster and he is now doing it as a veteran.

Our first gold in the team eventing Equestrian.

Unfortunately that last penalty could cost her individual gold.

Shame to see Nadal getting hammered. He probably needs to follow Andy Murray’s lead.
Not looking good at all today, but he more than held his own with Alcaraz in their first round match in beating the #6 doubles team from Argentina. His net play was fantastic, so maybe that's his path to future wins, though not sure he'd do that regularly on tour.

Pidcock sat 3rd in the Cycling cross-country, be great if he could defend his title.

Our other rider in the front pack too.

Aaargh, Sweet Caroline in between sets! No need..

Guess it depends if Rafa is happy enough to win the odd game here and there like Murray did, or whether not challenging will make him stop.

He doesn’t have much history of doubles, does he?

Nadal actually has played over 200 Tour-level doubles matches, picking up 11 titles, including a gold medal from Rio 2016, where he partnered with good friend Marc Lopez.

He played in 7 doubles tournaments back in 2003 when he was young and able to do both, and again, his serves and net play alone make him a great partner, so I don't see why not if he wants to, especially if he gets the right partner.
