Paris 2024 Olympics Thread - 11th August (pg 430)

Heard a couple of the pundits/commentators talk about this being a slow pool. Genuine question but, how is that possible?
Depth of the water, can make a difference, the deeper the pool the less waves you get rippling up and across the pool, also can give a bigger advantage to those in the middle lanes.

The have just been whinging about the price of tickets, well fuck me welcome to the world of a football fan.

What a load of shite river pollution in the Seine, when i was a lad in the hot summer of 76, we swam for weeks in the Leeds/Liverpool canal along with the dead dogs, rats, cut my feet open on the broken glass, character building. Don't let the Nancy boys stop one of my favourite events the Triathlon.

Really enjoying the swimming, Clare Balding presenting and proper pundits, Mark Foster and Rebecca Adlington, no hackneyed clichés, no bias, great insight, what a contrast with the shite we have to suffer from the red top loving football clowns.

Balding's been a bit excitable at times I think, but Foster and Adlington complement each other really well and as you say its a stark reminder of how most football punditry is just a stream of cliché riddled verbal diarrhea. Nedum's about the only one you could imagine holding his own with the types of more measured pundits you get in many other sports.
