Paris 2024 Olympics Thread - 11th August (pg 430)

KJT just 50 points behind Thiam going into the 200m, which is 0.5 of a second. KJT's PB is 1.5secs faster.
 
Long jump (and triple jump) is such a funny event.

Will they ever actually use this in normal life? No, because they aren’t actually jumping in a practical way; they’d break something jumping like that anywhere other than a stadium with a long sand pit.

But do we still enjoy watching them do it? Yes, we do.

So people train nearly every day of their life when they are young to be crowned the best adult jumper-in-to-a-long-sand-pit in the world!

My cousin lives near Greg Rutherford. His winning distance is marked out on the village green. It is huge!! Many have tried and failed (particularly on the way back from the pub!) but you have to have a go

She has a much faster 200m and 800m and a slightly better long jump.

Off of PB's, she has about 250 points on Thiam in the runs and 25ish in the long jump. Loses 300 to her in the Javelin though.

Probably needs a Javelin PB.

And probably broken or strained something trying!
 
Men's 200m final.

I don't mind Lyles but had enough of America winning now.

Think Tebogo has the best chance of upsetting the Americans.

Lyles should win.

Hope someone pips them in the last meter just so they know how it feels. ;-)

The PB differences in the 800m and the long jump are marginal (2% and 1% respectively) - don’t know about SB’s, but that’s not a big gap unlike the javelin
