Paris 2024 Olympics Thread - 11th August (pg 430)

SIR Chris Hoy is one of the few presenters on the BBC I actually like listening to, great athlete, great pundit, and as far as I know not asthmatic
Not keen on the race commentator (Simon Brotherton), constantly talking over Chris Boardman when the latter is explaining some tactical point or feature of the race.

Update on the Modern Pentathlon.
Today is the Men’s Semi finals but not looking good for the current Olympic champion Choong from GB.
Tomorrow could be different however as our two Brits namely Kate French and Kerenza Brown had very good fencing rounds and currently in 3rd and 5th respectively.

Is this the first Olympics since the showjumping was dropped for something else, due to teams selecting nightmares?

For the life of me i cant understand climbing being an olympic sport
I actually think that's one of the sports that deserves to be there.

It's a functional sport that in some parts of the world may be necessary.

Much like running, swimming, jumping, kayaking etc...

It's golf, tennis, football etc.. that I struggle with being there.

Absolutely horrific keeping for France’s opener in the men’s football gold medal match.
