Yes. In the early days of the Lottery, my mate and I were coaching a local kids team in Hertfordshire. One evening, we were clearing up after football training when one of the parents came back to see us.

We thought there'd been a problem in training but no... he'd stopped off at the local shop to get his lad something to eat and had bought a scratchcard.

A £100,000 winner. He asked us to check it because he couldn't believe it. There they were... three £100k symbols.

Lucky bugger. I've never known or heard of anyone else winning more than £50 since.

My wife’s Grandparents won about $780,000, payable in cash money (not over 20 yrs). After taxes, buying two new Cadillacs, completely redoing their house, and living a little “extra” off it for almost a decade in their small Ohio town, they only had a small wedge left when they died, and that eventually got divided up amongst their 4 kids.
