Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I thought Newcastle played good.

We gave away the ball ALOT

Would love to know why Stones not playing, he brings what is missing. Sure there is a reason because Pep knows best.

A lot won’t be but I’m happy with a point toon will only get better at home as the season goes on some of our competitors might struggle there
I agree but they won't keep getting away with being over physical. Especially against Arsenal.

Pep talked about finding a solution. If he thinks that midfield 5 and specifically that midfield 3 is the solution, we can forget the league and we will be in a top 4 battle.

I’m sick of seeing Bernardo grazing out on the wing with his thumb up his arse. He played the last 10 mins in the middle of the park and was the best CM on the pitch. Kovacic has to play, I don’t think anyone would suggest otherwise but sticking Gundo and Rico next to him, gives us the slowest, weakest, most negative midfield this squad can put out on the pitch. I’m not having Rico playing at 8 in a ridiculously weakened midfield. Wanna put him there with Rodri and Foden/Bernie alongside? Might get away with it…not in that 3. It’s fucking suicidal. Rico is fine when we have 70% of the ball. When it’s basketball it’s like watching an U14s playing men’s football.

That set up today suggested we would create next-to-nothing and that’s exactly how it panned out. I’m not sure how Pep expected anything from what we got.

Add Bernie & Doku to that list
Not being funny but Bernie and Doku was good in our first four games. And I think we was more dangerous in that spell.

Doku bashing after a 15 minute cameo from the bench is ridiculous, it’s hard to come off the bench and be up to the tempo right away.

Bernardo he’s just not a right winger, he looked a lot better in the last ten minutes when he was central. Players will come in and out of form.

I didn't think it was a penalty, There was little to no contact and he deliberately kicked the ground afterwards to simulate being tripped. I can understand the ref giving it in normal time but that **** on VAR couldn't wait to give it. Same **** who thinks Gashfords not interfering with play when chasing the ball from an offside position.

Frustrating.
Walker sleeping for the last man instead of keeping his line.
Still unbeaten.
Onto the next one.

A point’s not the end of the world, especially this early on, they’ll take points off other top teams at home.

Concerned about the lack of midfield control with Rodri out however, we need a solution that isn’t just sacrificing a forward player to get Kovacic and Gundo both in there (the latter of which I thought looked a yard short of pace again today)

It’s not helped with no KDB too. It’s time for Phil to be starting again now too.

Decent result. I think we've broken a few Arsenal fans judging from their reaction.

Walker yet again not in line with his defenders playing them onside. It is a trait of his, maybe he does it believing he will win a foot race

Gundo looks unfit, he is certainly slow, he should have put us 2 up or at least put Haaland through on goal

against physical sides Lewis is not going to work alongside Gundo

Kovacic looked better with Bernardo alongside and Foden has to be the number 10.

I would like to see KDB in the middle with Kovacic or Bernardo
