I don't think people realise just how dangerous he is right now. He is desperately trying to save his orange flabby ass from jail, and that is all he cares about. Despite all his pomp and bravado, he is fighting for his life. Akin to a caged animal, he will stop at nothing until he's locked up or he succeeds, either by making the charges go away (getting elected), or runs away to any country that will have him (Russia being the most likely at this point).
