City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

There is a huge sports news story to be told here, an independent panel of three well respected retired judges have issued a report and adjudication that suggests that the governing body of one of the most important sports leagues in the world is, at its most generous interpretation, utterly incompetent and chaotic or, much worse, utterly corrupt and in cahoots with a subset of clubs to disort and manipulate the competition. In many ways the fact it was City bringing the action is irrelevant to the real substance of the story.

But instead what we get from.significant portions of the press is the kind of crap Barney Ronay has served up today which has already been called out by multiple posters. The level of sophistry being employed to avoid writing the real story is an indication, with a few honourable exceptions, of just how bankrupt much of what passes for sports journalism in this country these days actually is.

Tomorrow morning in the 115 hearing Pannick has to start with addressing the panel of the APT results. Play the unfair process quote from panel and use it relating to 115. same organization, same process vs same club ...
We have had this verdict for 2 weeks, it was the PL holding its release back. So we had the results of this case at the start of the other hearing.

Then explain it to me. Please.

He’s saying that if people want to go after our sponsorships, which equate to not that much in the grand scheme of things, then they should be going even further into the far bigger sums of money procured unlawfully by other clubs through their owners loans, due to how he’s interpeted the judgment.

He’s overreaching but wouldn’t be surprised if he goes all in with it, he’d still be wrong but directing his ire wrongly at someone else rather than us for a change.

hi folks wake up to this reassuring news
different time zone

pretty sure someone asked this before on here
but what does this mean to our 115 charges ?

I am guessing it lower the chance that we will be guilty?

Lazy fucker. Not sure which timezone this is a reasonable breakfast time?

Oh. Given 19/20 agreed to loans being excluded I doubt they worried too much about a challenge
I've no where near your expertise but I did post on here soft loans should have a PIK element to adhere to FFP/PSR calculations. Our "friends" from Trafford have been paying proper commercial rates for years now.

I think this TalkSport article drives a juggernaut through the City PSR case:

I know the ruling is about the recent changes to ATP rules, but if not counting owners loans is unlawful, it must also be unlawful under preview PSR rules?

Surely, you can't have a situation where clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool would have breached PSR quite significantly if their owners loans were revalued at an FMV, and then punish City for breaches during the same period?

Can you have a situation where half the league have been funded by their owners circumventing PSR by a mechanism that is now deemed unlawful?

What will happen if clubs like Brighton, Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea. Leicester, Brentford, Wolves, Palace, Bournemouth refuse to vote through the changes to the rules to make them lawful because it's against their interest to do so?

This is a dogs dinner, but we always knew it was
Don't back a Tiger into a corner, the retaliation is inevitable.

They should in the crazily stupid rules we’ve ended up with. What that means in reality is more clubs have owners like the Glazers that have been able to sit on ever increasing asset that have also been able to take cash out at the same time.

I have little sympathy for the fans of bigger clubs that have bought into the rhetoric but the upshot of it is all is owners being even more shielded and much less opportunity for clubs to grow.

I’ll caveat that with if they were really bold and said no owner loans allowed at all, it has to be equity, then I’d be all for it.

He is a charlatan mate-Way to big for his boots. Spending way to much time with Jordan et al. I have never understood his disciple like status. Yes he is a clever bloke but I know plenty of clever blokes. Seems he didn't get the memo on this one though.....Much prefer Tolmie and Prestwich's info.
That’s harsh as fuck, mate.
I just think he looks at every argument with no bias and tries to be as honest as he can. He’s not a cheerleader, he’s an expert in finance who also happens to be a City fan so many expect him to go on TS etc and back us to the hilt regardless but that’s not what he’s there for.
I’d like to think off the microphone he sticks up for us a bit more robustly and tells White and Jordan they are both gobshites but alas I’m pretty sure he’s too professional to go down that road.

I believe City voted in favour of these shareholder loans originally. In the latest case they claimed that allowing these but not reviewing the PL's revised APT approval process provided an unfair advantage to clubs whose owners were bankrolling them.

And that's fair enough, pretty sure none of us are getting a mortgage from a bank at 0% any time soon.
You not been fucked off yet?

Shame, you're only here for one reason, posting in this thread, now kindly off you fuck.

He's not too bad our Tarquin Invader but I question his motive posting on here. I think he'll probably revel in us not winning the League this season (I don't think we will) but his disappointment at the Dippers winning will temper his POV, I don't want the Victims to win it and have no "second choice" team but out of all the others I'd prefer Villa and I do t even like them!:-)

Well it has taken me a full 2 hrs to catch up on all the posts and it has been most warming.
As previously stated please please please do not let the media spin upset you because we cannot control it. They are appeasing to the masses of Red cartel supporters. Let them have there consolation goal. To me it makes victory even sweeter. UNLAWFUL is the only word anyone needs to take note of. As for the BBC, an organisation which shielded predators such as Saville, Edwards for years. An organisation which allows bullying (Strictly) and to just pass it off as normal. Their lack of reporting on this tells everyone all they need to know.
Moving forward for me this is just the final nail in the coffin and an independent regulator will be brought in.
Ironic isn't it-City didn't disagree to the whole APT rules being enforced but just the legality of certain aspects.
What a time to be alive. This will end in the new year (if not before) with the 115 but the findings of this hearing and the clear targeting of our club will have seismic implications. They have stirred a right hornets nest and I hope the club absolutely seek recompense however little or great that may be.
As for the hateful 8-Go fuck yourselves
