Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

Who were we supposed to sign that would replace Haaland at a level that would satisfy you if he was injured but would be happy to sit on the bench when he wasn’t?
that’s not really fair, the club has people who get paid to do the scouting etc. how should a ‘civilian’ know about the profiles and options?

This competition won’t exist in a few years. It’s a complete waste of time, the poor man’s FA Cup. Sorry I know you all love it for some reason ;-)

Might also be time to move to 18 teams in the PL like most of Europe.

Hope we win 115 because we need a big transfer window next Summer.
Nowt wrong with domestic football and European Club stuff, it's that International shite and customary 2 week breaks which mean club football is Crammed into what is left.

I fucking hate what they have done to the football calendar.

If Clubs introduced pay freezes when players leave for International duty than players would decline the call up.

it doesn’t work like that.

If we carry on winning with 8 first teamers out it will be an incredible achievement by Pep.

I know it’s not ideal but KDB might have to risk the pain. We need him, now.
Risk the pain lol.

What, for him to pull up 3 or 4 games later and miss another 2 months.

Rather him miss the next 3 games to have him fully fit for the rest of the season.

and guess what had we sold Bernardo (with an offer he was hoping for years from warmer climate) Txiki and Pep likely thinks no replacement needed to keep the others happy playing time wise. like at Alvarez. we got way to comfortable on transfer market on the incoming side. Pep prefers a small squad, well this the risk of it.
we knew we have more CL games in new format and also a whole new format CWC with up to 7-8 games after the season.

Lot of players out but we've still got the best striker in the world and enough to compliment him. Just need to get over the line against Bournemouth and Brighton and then it's international break when hopefully we'll have a few back. Less fussed about the Lisbon game now that we've broken the record and we've been ravaged by injuries

Ffs txiki!
He’s not arsed. He’s leaving. He’s only still here to show the new guy how it all works at City. :-)

I doubt there will be any January signings. He won’t be here for any Summer signings.

Couldn’t see a thread for this, so thought we needed one in the circumstances.

Separate thread? Behave. Every team / squad has injuries; we’re no different.
Not one team in the Prem wouldn’t swap their starting eleven with us this weekend. Not one. So quit the hyperbolic, woe-is-us fanny/wiping.

Liverpool?

Some are claiming that there were players available we could buy that would be happy to sign and mostly sit on the bench until one of the established senior players picked up an injury—specifically Haaland, who would want to play every minute that he was fit—so I think it is fair to ask who these players were?

It’s a bit late now. City should have made that decision in the Summer to buy another forward. We had £100mill+ to buy a forward. We have Txiki and a massive scouting network. In all seriousness, who at City thought going into a new season with one striker, Haaland, was a sensible idea?
Haaland would/will want to play every minute that he is fit. So whomever we signed to play understudy would have to be content with sitting on the bench most of the time, until such time as Haaland picked up an injury. They would get the odd game here and there, but with the squad we started off with, they wouldn’t have a clear path to substantial minutes.

So, again, who could we have signed to take on that role?

there are always players available if you want to spend money.

that’s what confusing about reports that the new guy will spend money unlike txiki. i was under the impression that was the club thing bot just txiki. anyway, time will tell will the 15m saved by not paying over valuation for bruno g. be a huge mistake or not.
