Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

It was obvious our squad was far too small at start of season, it could well be very costly but I’m sure I told you so type post are unwanted. Let’s hope the youngsters can impress and we can invest heavily on the right players in January before too much damage has been inflicted on our season

Balotelli is available on a free, I’d take him into the squad tomorrow if he can be registered

Probably a good loss given the circumstances. I thought the young centre half looked decent. Stones as reserve centre forward maybe?

This competition won’t exist in a few years. It’s a complete waste of time, the poor man’s FA Cup. Sorry I know you all love it for some reason ;-)

Might also be time to move to 18 teams in the PL like most of Europe.

Hope we win 115 because we need a big transfer window next Summer.
Agree but not sure we can wait to summer

Me too but only because I love the bloke

Haaland would/will want to play every minute that he is fit. So whomever we signed to play understudy would have to be content with sitting on the bench most of the time, until such time as Haaland picked up an injury. They would get the odd game here and there, but with the squad we started off with, they wouldn’t have a clear path to substantial minutes.

So, again, who could we have signed to take on that role?

I normally like reading your posts, but you are just being argumentative for the sake of it now. I knew you would be.

No top team goes into the busiest season ever with one striker.

Haaland will not want to play every game for City and Norway. Haaland will need a rest and a break from playing football at some point this season, like every player does. ‘You’ can’t expect Haaland to play every game this season for City and Norway, more so for City. He isn’t a robot.

City have Txiki and a massive scouting network. They could have tracked and signed a forward from the PL, from Europe, or from the world. I don’t get paid by City to do that work and to make those decisions.

strange rumours on Walker, KDB also cryptic message from Grealish on instagram. hope its all bullshit.

Separate thread? Behave. Every team / squad has injuries; we’re no different.
Not one team in the Prem wouldn’t swap their starting eleven with us this weekend. Not one. So quit the hyperbolic, woe-is-us fanny/wiping.
It's a discussion forum. Having 8 first-team players out is worthy of discussion.

I am not being argumentative for the sake of it.

If people are convinced we should have gone in to the market, then surely they have players in mind we could have acquired to join what was an already full title-winning squad to start the season.

I don’t think it is unreasonable to ask, if someone is so convinced there were options the club did not avail themselves of, what they reckon the options were.

If it is just “I wanted to them to do something, even before all the players got injured”, then fair enough. But, if so, who were you asking for them to sign then? And who among our squad would fall out of the team to accommodate them at the start of the season?

There are only so many slots in the match squad, so any new additions would either have to be left out, or players already with us would need to be left out.

And I am curious about what you reckon that calculus would look like.

Not sure why people are focusing on our decision to not replace Alvarez when our big issue at the moment is having all 4 of our wingers out injured

At least with another striker we could go 4-4-2.

I said before the start of the season it’s unthinkable to go into the season until January or until the end of the season with just Haaland and no other striker.

If, and it is an if, Haaland gets injured (long-term) playing for City or Norway, we’re fucked. We haven’t got another striker.

Do teams go into the season with just one keeper?

So it is only not having a designated backup striker to Haaland you have an issue with?

If that is the case, then ok, perhaps I misunderstood your position, as I thought you were criticising us not dipping in to the market to have players ready when many players get injured.

It’s exactly that.

Only having one striker, Haaland.

Hopefully we won’t see a City team without Haaland this season because he is injured and out for a week, weeks, months, etc.

Enough of Haaland. I’m off to bed.

Although it has been a quiet start for Foden he is proven he could play the false 9 and is capable of scoring 25+ goals a season which is good cover for Haaland.
