Matheus Nunes

Why would we?
Fans wanted a player to take the strain from Rodri. Maybe the club doesn’t. 3 at the back plus 2DM’s 4 attackers with Haaland up front.

Kovacic/Rodri/Tonali 2 from 3 for DM

No real cost to us as similar values cost each club.

Less smoking mushrooms and quoting garbage on social media made for clicks..

Facts: a DM can never be a replacement for an attacking winger.. not even in Pep's versatile system. Nunes was our desperate move to try and cover for the loss of Gundogan.

BTW I think in a strange way Gundogan coming back is actually good for Nunes (despite all the media/ twitter bs). He doesn't have the pressure to be a Gundogan anymore and can just give us another dimension by possibly being himself. From all past performances, he can actually do pretty good as a double pivot.

Single DM as good as Rodri he's not but who the heck is?

He hasn't done too bad, he has been better than i thought saying that he is no Yaya though, he is a tier 2 player, not the level we really need to compete for the big pots.
Would Madrid, Barcelona, or Bayern sign him?

Thought the penalty he gave away was soft, but no surprise it was said by bt on commentary that its a clear pen. They would of been screaming dive and injustice for Sporting if it was against them.

Was hoping he would be off in January - but no chance of that given the current injuries. Notice teams don't ever really double up on him, when he is playing on the wings, wheras they look terrified when Doku and Savinho are on the ball -not rare for Doku to tie up three never mind two.

Despite his size he also looks a bit light weight in the middle too

Hopefully puts in some half decent perfomances between now and the summer and we can get back some of our money and get a proper upgrade

Been one of our best players recently and that says a lot about the performances of everyone else. He's not a bad player and with a run of games has certainly looked more confident. I wouldn't play him out wide personally, the issue we have getting overrun defensively means we need more legs in the midfield and Nunes is the man for the job in this current squad. Kovacic can't do it on his own. Stones isn't around to step up into midfield, not that I think that will be possible without Rodri. Rico has to stop being given licence to roam and we need a rigid back 4. Nunes has the pace to cover the ground which is one major problem with anyone else playing in the middle with Kovacic. He's got the ability to drive the ball forwards and in time could form a solid partnership with Kovacic to do that.

I thought he was brilliant last night until it fell apart. It showed that he is a confidence player. He needs to be surrounded by players at the top of their game. Last night he wasn't and he went from very good to half hearted.

IMO he is part of the solution. It's the crowd favourites who are our current challenge imo. The guys who are putting passes astray too often or holding onto the ball too long or not trying wholeheartedly to score a goal.

Tbh there’s a few more that need to go before he does .

I wasn't his biggest fan before he started showing form this past month and didn't really want him, but there's some strange takes here that aren't giving him credit during the past month.

It's almost like some want him to fail as there's a case for Matheus Nunes being possibly our player in October, certainly in the top three easily and at times last month we'd have been well and truly fucked without him.

During these past few games and even with our team playing so incredibly bad, it's far from on him there's been others that have stood out as playing much worse.

It's defo a strange one to start talking negatively about him just as he's started to come out of his shell a bit, so why are some acting as if he's a been a complete disaster who needs to be offloaded immediately.

He may leave come the summer but right now based on form alone I'd rather a good few others left before him, if you're looking at current form he's been comfortably one of our best players lately no doubt about it.
