Sporting CP (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Yeah but mate we already know you can't rely on Ake and especially Stones to stay fit for any significant amount time, and we know that Walker is 34 and past his best, and you can't be sure that Pep and Txiki know about it too and yet they did nothing about it.

The players needed might not have been available.

What would be worse would be to go out and spend £50m+ on players not good enough long term just to fill the gaps temporarily.

That’s how you slowly degrade your squad and f up your wage bill.

I think performance wise we’ve not been great since losing to the Rags in the FA Cup final. We feel stale, predictable and one paced.

Great teams sometimes get their arses kicked.
Especially when you utterly fail to score when you should.

I'm not normally kneejerk, but I so was fucked off tonight even before they equalised, you can't dominate a football match that much, and not be 3 or 4 ahead, it's ridiculous, and it needs sorting out.

The first 35-40 minutes tonight is probably the best we've played team wise all season, so I'm sorry but it's a complete failure of the players, and it needs saying. The start of the second half came as no surprise, so I turned it off, I was actually angry with them for failing to put the game to bed, long before the equaliser.

Where's the ferocity!? Players look shy, scared and too placid. Show us your fucking metal lads! Where's the outrage FFS?

Kovacic got a stupid yellow card essentially because he's too one footed and failed to control the ball with the outside of his right foot when it was easier to use his left

That completely shafted us for the 2nd goal because he had the opportunity to take one for the team.

I must have watched a different game

Both of them, as well as the other two at the back, were a complete car crash
Pep won’t criticise them in public, he’s not that sort of coach/manager. He’ll sort it out though….hopefully!

We are missing the best player in the world and were missing one of the best players in the world in KDB.

We were also without Grealish and three of our top defenders.

Give this team a break.

I do think some players aren't good enough such as Nunes. Kovacic clearly can't play the Rodri roll. So that's been some bad recruitment.

Couldn't agree more. Pep lays out team MORE than good enough and they respond with tame, barely awake bullshit. Take some fucking responsibility lads!!! They had many a warning sign in the first half.

Lol of course you'd say that after his first poor game of the season, you weren't saying that against Bournemouth when he created more chances than anyone were you ? or when he gave the game winning against Saints ? or when he assisted Haaland against West Ham to kill the game off ? and even in this poor game he still created a great chance for Haaland who blasted it miles wide, piss off with that stupid lazy comparaison to Phillips.
Bournemouth, West Ham and Southampton.

As I was suggesting, everyone has their level and he is playing in a team well above his.

Never going to be good enough, and a bad signing, as was Phillips, that was the comparison.

Problem with that is Kev comes back and then he's gone again. He's also going to get called up for Belgium.

In two years time we'll talk about how united destroyed a young promising coach, nothing more.

Pep will sort this out, because he isn't leaving on a low.

Plenty to look forwards too.

In the meantime, dig in blues.
