Even where she's winning she's getting fewer votes than the doddery old white guy got four years ago. Unbelievable.

It's almost as if nearly 50% of the voting electorate think they have real grievances that haven't been listened to by politicians of whatever colour for years, decades even, and so are happy with a complete psychopath who speaks language they understand.

To me it's an incredible situation the country finds itself in, barely comprehensible, and, no matter who wins, it's a problem that isn't going to go away unless people listen.

Putting up a female candidate is likely the mistake, sadly. I don’t think we’ll see another one for many years now.

I think people just get fed up with being lectured and spoken down to , usually by very wealthy privileged people, be that politicians, celebrities or TV presenters. If you are constantly lied to and shafted by whoever is in power people think fuck it, I'll vote for whoever pisses these wankers off the most. We saw it here to an extent with the Brexit vote. If your life and future is pretty bleak anyway they don't give a fuck.

Well, they got what they wanted then if Trump wins. The thing is, the wealthy and privileged can avoid any coming unpleasantness as a result of them not giving a fuck, and those they chose to represent them don’t give a fuck about them either. So they’ll be right back here two or four years from now with the same or worse problems. So well done to them.

It’s over. And, the sad part is it’s going to be a Red Wave…Republicans are going to own the White House, the Senate, the House and SCOTUS. Two Justices will retire and Trump will get to name two more young Fascists and the country will be fucked.

By 2028, the laws of the United States will look VERY different, a woman will need an old white man to tell her what she can and can’t do with her own body.

Trump is going to change America in ways we cannot fully understand yet, but I struggle to find a way it can be positive. The deficit will blow up, and the lunatics will take over the asylum.

I’m sorry to say there are tens of millions of ignorant morons who think intelligence is lies and bluster, misogyny and sexism are manly, and doing ANYTHING to avoid further lawsuits and jail is strength.

It makes me physically sick to think this moron will be the President AGAIN, but I’m embarrassed about what it says about the country…or at least everywhere outside the large cities where people live and run the country.

Yes, it is an embarrassment, but this is America and it’s hard to be surprised by almost anything anymore given what I’ve seen in the last few years.

I think that's part of it: anti-intellectualism. A distrust of "experts" telling them their life is better or will be better if they vote a certain way because of statistics/ studies when they feel the opposite from their actual experience. Of course being told they are stupid, a cult and the rest for feeling the way they do doesn't help, either. Also ties into the "don't stand out being smart" attitude referred to earlier in the thread and leads to the "own the libs attitude" also referred to in here.

There are other issues, obviously.

Anyway, just remember: "It's finished at Georgia, Trump has done all he can .... Harris is still alive here ....... Pennsylvania, Michigaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan. I swear you'll never see anything like this ever again. So watch it, drink it in."

Let's hope so.
 
When Haaland hit the bar with his penalty I thought the comeback was over. I'm going to hope Harris can still do this, as unlikely as it might be right now.

I know it was close in the polls, but it's alarming that people have voted for the orange psychopath in such numbers. Do they really hate women that much in the US?
