Democrats need to learn from this - attack minorities, attack Muslims and people of colour, attack women and their reproductive rights, attack LGBQT, attack the mainstream media and threaten to not accept the democratic outcome if it doesn’t go their way. Support Netanyahu and Putin and get the wealthiest onboard to promote their propaganda on social media.
It's dreadful, i can't get my head around the fact that the US people want this

Probably. I does seem like a lot of this election was fought on the economy though.

It’s not even a close race
It appears to me that the Democrats didn’t make a big enough deal defending their record on the economy. The narrative has been that the Republicans are a better bet with the economy whereas the reality is that the current administration’s handling of the economy since the pandemic has been exceptional. That message never seemed to get out though.

I don't believe this is a vote for trump, but rather a vote against the cynicism and paucity of the democrat offerings. The media construct of one of the least popular VPs of all time as an agent of change has not fooled enough people. Similarly, pretending biden was 'sharp as a tack' up until after that debate gave trump the in he needed.
Sad times - I see netanyahu has already fired his defence minister and replaced him with a more extreme nutter now it looks like the incoming US govt will let him do as he likes. :-(

The thing that gets me is all the bleating. They spent Trump's last term moaning about stuff like him packing the Supreme Court and an unfair electoral system, and what have the actually done to fix it in the years where they've actually been in power?

I'm not sure what they could have done - didn't have the House, couldn't rely on all the Democrat senators on everything.

People seem to forget that majority of Americans are still white conservatives. The average white american still feels like slavery wasn't necessarily a bad thing, just a chapter in their long history. Obama was a one off and Biden Vs Trump was pretty much a sibling rivalry that had to be resolved in house (basically a "one of us" situation).

There was no way Kamala was going to win this election, also certain hispanic and arab minority groups also have their bias against someone like Kamala. Sad to say but the Democrats could have selected a more marketable candidate, don't get me wrong she's qualified but this is America we are talking about here, The Terminator was the governor of one of the biggest states in the country and I believe a reality tv host was once elected president.

It's not about qualifications, it's about who's relatable and most americans are like Trump, Christians when it's convenient (up until that "love your neighbour as you love yourself" part, that's when Christianity becomes woke), anti- abortion (until you get knocked up by the guy you've been cheating on your husband with), anti-lgbtq (until you need to sneak off to Thailand on that business trip), anti- black (until you need a few "Blacks for Trump" stooges on the stage with you...The name Blacks for Trump is just wrong on so many levels but that's a different topic all together). It's just a country full of despicable hypocrites.

You voted against this.

Hold your head up high that you did your bit despite the circumstances
Thank you. I absolutely did in a swing state.

I thought and hoped we were better than this. I guess I was wrong.

I have always been pro-Western, pro-NATO, very internationalist. I have always seen the UK and the vast majority of Europe as firm allies and friends.

Trump has a very misguided isolationist outlook. Yes, some of our misadventures like Iraq were a mistake, but "America First" is not the way.

I wish we could have done better not just for our own country, but for the UK and the EU too. I hope in four years we will understand what a mistake we've made.

We have a winner
Seriously
On a radio broadcast and couple of weeks ago, they were in a battleground state sat with a group of housewives who were split
One quoted the price of eggs and said Trump will sort it and that's why she was going to vote for him
What she was saying was all the cost factors that go into producing eggs, electricity, animal feed, fuel for delivery etc
She didn't say how he was going to solve the price issue, just that he would
