Injuries 2024/25 | Ake & Bobb return to training

There are currently nine teams with more injuries than we have. I wouldn’t even describe five players out with a few only just coming back as severe.

It’s the quality of our squad that is making it seem worse than it is. We are used to not noticing a handful of players being out due to having a fairly low drop off in quality from our best players around the rest of the squad.

At one time, if Sterling, De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Otamendi and Kompany (like Bobb, Grealish, Rodri, Stones and Dias are out now) were out injured, we’d still have a starting line-up almost as good, if not as good, as if they were there.

Even players like Delph really stepped up to a high level of performance when Mendy got injured. Playing out of position, he was MOTM a few times in a season that no other team has ever reached, even banged in a couple of goals into the top corner. Now we’re excited that Nunes has worked hard and put a few good crosses in and hasn’t looked total shite like last season.

We are now seeing what more normal teams do.
We really don't know what injuries we have, I do think a lot of our players currently playing are nowhere near 100%, never mind the actual absentees.

The quality of our squad is weaker than at anytime under Pep, first season apart.

Any injured city player or just coming back from injury city player goes to this pointless international break they can Fook off

For someone like Grealish or Walker, the international games are probably coming at an ideal time. They could do with minutes in the legs before coming back for Spurs.

Why is half our squad injured then? Who's fault is it?

Dias was fine to fly to France for the Ballon D'or party now he's injured for 2 weeks? Fucking why and how? What's going on?
Yeh I saw Stones walking to his car the other day what’s that all about? I thought he was injured!

The fact you’ve not noticed a number of the ones who’ve played in recent games are clearly not actually fit and have only played purely because we had no other choice is bizarre.

I dont even see the point in England calling Walker up. Hes not playing in the next World Cup. these are glorified friendlies. Why pick a 34 year old?
Do u really think Lee fancy Walker? He clearly prefers Trent in that position. It is Walker himself going on to the media and putting the pressure on. Wanting 100 caps blah blah.

We know Doku, Erling, Bernardo, Phil and Akanji will be flogged to death and play both games on International duty even if their respective countries are up against total dogshit nations. Pisses me off
Spot on, this is where the authorities could have a say

Limit game time for players so they aren't flogged.

It could mean players with high playing time can not be called up for the shitty Internationals (meaningful competitive games aside).

Yet pre season many were saying we had the best squad ever assembled.

It's amazing how having a 3rd of your squad injured can change things.

I have never been an advocate of buying for the sake of it. No point spending big for someone to sit on the bench.

Oscar Bobb's injury was a huge blow because I, and I believe the management thought this would be his break out season.
Rodri's injury is a killer and the other niggling injuries especially to Grealish who has been consistent with his fitness, have all taken there toll.

Hopefully tmrw get a win then a rest.

Obviously, though strictly this isn't an injury it's a condition that causes significant discomfort, and anyone can get it, i've never heard of a footballer having it before. My wife had 2 years of it, very dificult to get rid of.

My point about JS is that 30 isn't "old" and he should have at least 2 years at the highest level, hopeful they can quickly get to the bottom of.
Is it plantar fasciitis? That's not unusual in football in my (low level) experience, but it's one of those funny ones that many get to a degree that they carry on with. It's a shit though.

I'm sure that is what was said at some point last week.

Pep definitely said it was a problem with "his feet" as opposed to a foot injury.

So who's going on International duty apart from Walker, Foden, Grealish and Haaland? They can all be ruled out until the middle of December at the earliest.
