Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

But why do that?

Why not just bring a new guy in, let him choose who he wants staying/going and avoid the situation you refer to?
because whenever it happens, a new manager is going to inherit a number of players he might not like, and he'll just have to get on with it.
Given the quality of our squad however, I'm not sure any manager will have too many complaints

whoever it is will have possession based football as his starting point anyway, anyone here or coming in staff/players will be in that style under this ownership from here on out. Evolution not revolution.

Glaring holes though, no full backs for one

Starting to feel a bit like hearing an announcement of a 1 year extension would be the worse case scenario. If he's intent on leaving let's bite the bullet and start planning for life After Pep, not just kick the can down the street for 12 months and have all thus speculation again this time next year. Obviously best case scenario is a long term extension and he's in the hot seat for the foreseeable future.

There is potentially life after Pep, would love a 3 year two fingers up extension but, we can see from the dips, they look a much better side now the Messiah gurning fucker has left.

If once everyone has played them they can do the reverse fixtures is another thing (Sven has us purring for half a season).

Agreed.

Considering where the squad is at.

Thing is a new manager be up against it next season because of the club World Cup

Maybe but he would still be getting a 12 month headstart on what he would get if pep signs a 12 mth extension and probably some leeway for a bad start if it happened given the timings of the competition and when he took over.

Absolutely not, this is just a kneejerk reaction to our customary autumn wobble.
There are no circumstances under which the best manager in history signing for another 12 months is bad news.

Who cares about speculation on forums and in the media.

That will do for me.

Another 1 year after that and so on and so forth.

It’s how pep rolls.

Few blips and people want rid? Its overreaction social media style.

Quick dump the most successful manager of his time. This place is like trump Twitter, mental.

has to be more than one season. otherwise it might be extra 5 months until end of November 2025 too. even if he does not want to stay a minute longer than extra 12 months make it a 3 year deal and with points in the contract making sure it can be cancelled without us paying a penny in 12 months and he can leave for free as well in 12 months time. leading up to summer 2025 our main transfer targets will have options to choose from. I dont want our pitch to be "join the farewell season of Pep" and their agents will ask us too of plans if not already asking us.

we need to rebuild and I hope Pep has the energy and motivation to oversee it.
