I will not be giving up on the league title just yet even with the last 2 loses in the league, but I just asked myself who would I least like to win the league out out the red scoucers and the tarquins fuck me its hard to pick.
It is tough, I think if Liverpool hadn't won and was still chasing their first for a while then Arsenal might pip it. I have no issues with how they are playing, they look good and deservedly at the top. I would hate to lose out to a stuttering Arsenal. Their fans are up there with Liverpool. I don't mind Slot either, I think it will be funny if he wins it, with Klopps squad, as it puts to bed Klopp was overachieving there (apparently)

There are 8 PL & 2 CL games left to play before we get any help from the Transfer Window opening..

Spurs H
feyenoord CL H
Liverpool A
Forest H
Palace A
juve CL A
United H
Villa A
Everton H
Leicester A
<transfer window opens>

We have to survive and stay in it or the whole season can go sideways really fast here..

The collective bedwetting by some on here and so called City fans across social media has been a sight to see. Can only assume they are teenagers.

Second in the league considering all the injuries we have and players running on fumes.

Imagine how we'll still improve when these players come back and players get match fit.

Every year for the last four we have results like this at this point. Then we improve after Christmas and go on to win and set records.
Good post mate, were 5 points adrift and the bed wetting is a disgrace,5 points which can become 2 on a good weekend

We're 2nd in the league and definitely still in it. That's pretty damn good.

And brilliant to see Kev on the pitch again.

Up the blues!

Would completely agree with that if Rodri were available after say January. Him missing the whole season makes the comparisons with previous seasons a bit lame.

This doesn't mean we won't compete for the title, as Liverpool might have bad periods too. They had a really bad finish to last season and it is premature to think that they will easily go above 85 pts. This season, 85 pts might suffice.

Anyway, we should sign 1-2 players in January and hope that the likes of Foden, KDB and Haaland hit form. If, and it's a big if, they play like top 10 players in the world, we are likely to compete.

Get to Christmas only 5 behind and everyone will shit themselves. It's a huge advantage to us that our opponents know that we have the mentality to get serious when it counts.

Bit early for people to jump conclusions. If it was four consecutive losses in the league I’d be concerned but it’s not. It’s two league losses.

What I can’t believe is that we’re entering an international break again. Feels like it’s all the time now.

cause of Rodri there would not be any great margin, but we can win it. Nothing i have seen last couple of weeks, bar maybe Bournemouth, made me thing we are not still the best team in the league. We have the best system of the play, you can easily see this, nobody creates from a positional play as much as we do. With time the fitness gonna be better, players will be back. We are going to be there in the fight, we gonna defend our title till the end. Rodri has given us additional edge, but we are still just ahead in my book.

With Rodri we could win 10 games in a row. Without him that's unlikely. We'll be less consistent. Maybe we can win 85 pts. If several players make a big step forward, we can compete. If we sign Zubi and he hits the ground running, then we can dream. But right now it's a bit premature to think we are the best. Rodri was vital for a reason, more so than some imagined.

If someone other than Haaland doesnt start scoring we won't be in the title race much longer. For all our midfield and defensive woes if our attacking players could stop fucking about and start to notch a few goals we'd be top. Football is a simple game , you score more than the opposition. You can invent as many different systems of playing as you like but that doesn't change, ever.

Yeah, but we watch games. We are very good for least say 60 min of each game. Its rather about fatigue. Thats been said, Rodri is obvious element, so so crucial.

But just maybe when everybody are back we will see how 2 games a week looks against a single a week game team. For now its a main difference, we control games as long as we can maintain intensity

We were 9th this time last year weren't we?
We’ve not been that low in the table after 11 games since Pellegrini when we were 8th with 19points in 2013-14 and Hughes when we were 10th with 13points in 2008-09.

After match 11, under Pep:

2016-17 - 3rd 24points
2017-18 - 1st 31points
2018-19 - 1st 29points
2019-20 - 2nd 25points
2020-21 - 5th 21points
2021-22 - 2nd 23points
2022-23 - 2nd 26points
2023-24 - 1st 27points
2024-25 - 2nd 23points

Average position, 2.11. Average points, 25.44.
