David Coote | Charged with making indecent video of a child (p57)

IIRC the decision to send off Vinnie against the rags in the cup highlights the difficulty of being a ref and the subjective nature of the laws of the game.
There are four possible outcomes to a potential foul:
No foul; play on,
Foul and free-kick,
Foul, free-kick and yellow card,
Foul, free-kick and red card.
Obviously the free-kick becomes a penalty if the offender is defending in his own penalty area.
A panel of refs were asked which of the four options was the correct outcome and each option received a similar number of votes. How can we get consistent decisions (which is what most of us want) if qualified referees give such a wide range of opinions?

A foul can be awarded to either side to add further complication.

For e.g. high profile games of the treble season we screamed for pens v Arse & Rags & they were awarded free kicks.

Wonder what happens when no one wants to be refs anymore ?

These states statements are just to fuel hatred towards refs.

We all know refs aren't perfect but who honestly wants to work under the pressure the refs do ?

Managers work under pressure and get a fucking nice pay out when sacked.

I don't see any benefit from being a ref, 50 odd cameras watching every decision you make. 100's of pundits going over it. Certain managers allowed to bad mouth them.

It's not a job for me, if klopp had ran like that towards me he would have had more than a pulled hamstring ! He would have need to go back to Turkey for new teeth.

Most employees have signs and policies that threatening, verbal abuse or physical violence will not be tolerated and action taken. Seems refs not have this

The context is that he doesn’t tend to get games between the better teams when they play each other and City very rarely fail to beat any of the other teams, no matter who the referee is.

That’s assuming it’s even true, which I can’t be arsed checking.
Coote reffed the following games involving us:
This season - none
2023/24 - City 2 - 0 Sheffield Utd
2022/23 - City 3 - 0 Bournemouth, City 3 - 2 Liverpool (EFL Cup), City 3 - 0 Wolves
2021/22 - Brentford 0 - 1 City

That's it as far as I can see. So we do have a 100% record.

Edit: From what I can see, the only controversial incident in those games was in the Brentford one, where Toney left his studs on Fernandinho and could have seen red but didn't.

The likes of Anthony Taylor have a base salary of £100k a year and also receive £1500 a game apparently. There’s enough financial remuneration to take shit from the likes of Klopp, where do I sign up?

Indeed. Plus the added benefit of having the opportunity of telling the likes of Klopp to fcuk off when being verbally abused. Seems too good to miss :-)

Wondering if there's any opinions on the timing of this...?

International Break news release doesn't suggest something organic... Or am I wrong?

People saying blackmail... is the idea that "his" side have released the videos to escape blackmail..? or...? He's refused blackmail and so the blackmailers have released the videos...?

But if so why time it with an international break...?

There always seems to be a big scoop at the start of international windows.

Fills the void of no football for 3-4 days.

I can’t say for sure, but it does seem quite the coincidence if not. I’m sure our taking the PL to tribunal bombshell dropped on the Monday of an international break too.

I'm quite confused about it really... The videos are years old.. how do you rate the chances that the media have only just seen them...?

And what do you think is the story and run of events that made them come out...?

However we got to this point (and I still think blackmail is a distinct possibility), it's been a clear and organised stitch up by the media.

I’ve no idea. It could be that they’ve published them as soon as they’ve been sent them, or they’ve sat on them waiting for a lull in stories for maximum exposure.

It could be that the guy who filmed it has got into financial trouble recently and decided to sell the video to the highest bidder, or he’s sent it to a WhatsApp group and someone else has cashed in on it.
