Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Pep has to take some blame regarding game management, made the right call with subs due too Sundays game however we still have our defence to high up sat on the half way line, it’s cocky and arrogant because we know that long ball over the top and we have clown of a keeper that never made it has a left winger will coming rushing out like rennie higuita and try a scorpion kick, what a tool
Eddie made a fuck up tonight but calling him a clown of a keeper is bollocks...
All keepers make mistakes but Eddie has earned enough credit not to be called a fucking clown

That result doesn’t even really matter anyway. Finish in the Top24 and you go through to the KO preliminary round. The format rewards shitness. I’d rather finish 25th this season, go out and concentrate on finishing 4th in the PL so we’re in the CL for any new signings next Summer. Whether we get in the 24 or even sneak the 8, we aren’t winning the CL this season.

Not this many! That one today was just ridiculous. I’d drop him for this week as he needs a rocket up his arse.

That would be daft. Playing at FB is more physically demanding than at CB. Ake can't play a whole game vs an average team at CB, you want him at LB. Or you mean Lewis.

Again, Gvardiol is not the problem, it's the injury prone defenders. You can carry one, but 2 or 3 is getting a bit too much.

Absolutely pathetic and ANOTHER example of a couple of quick goals leading to a total collapse. Real, Lyon, Liverpool, Monaco, Sporting, Feyenoord have all shown what to do. Brighton, Bournemouth and Spurs now as well.
The teams picking us off aren't top class, they just play with pace. We've been found out and no player is prepared to stand up as a Captain and rally the players.

I just don't see our defence working well enough to stop any team at the minute. Quite simply, it's rubbish. The structure of the team is well off and it's every player who looks well below their best.

I don't know what we have to do against Liverpool but we can't defend, don't create clear chances and Haalands off form. Our passing is slow, dull and predictable and just ineffective.

Pep needs to roast the fucking lot of them in that dressing room. We need BIG changes.
We were in control for 70 mins. Very good overall performance. They didn't get much joy until after the subs and then the silly mistakes. If he starts the same team at Anfield as he did tonight we can get something there.

Individual mistakes from players already on the pitch contributed to the goals, not the subs.
I know that mate but as a whole 11 it's a different 11 that ended the game..

That starting 11 wins the game 3 nil for me.

Pep never makes subs when we are losing so don't do it now when we need to get a win under our belts.

Give over.

Pep is going no where. There will be fresh faces in January and especially in the summer.

We can't win every year.

I wouldn't be so sure. He sounds defeated in that interview and baffled as to what more he can do. One thing for sure is all the tactics in the world won't help when somebody makes criminal mistakes like Gvardiol did. He wasn't the only one, Akanji almost cost us in the first half too.

I don't know why posters are getting out their prams, it isn't exactly a shock is it?
We are what we are at the minute and that is woeful. This team has run it's course, it isn't rocket science. They've give us the treble and four in a rowand after years of running themselves into the ground for us we need to give them some slack.

There was always going to be a tail off and a dip, it's happening, it's real, we just have to suck it up and crack on, no use pointing the finger or putting the blame on individuals, as a team they've all had that drop off

Get used to the fact we aren't winning anything this season, that isn't being defeatist, that is being honest with the situation.

Top 4, maybe the fa cup and it's a decent season. Forget champions league this season, we are nowhere near good enough.

We all need to accept what is going on, simple really.

Totally agree. The best news recently — the only good news — is Pep's renewal. It gives him time to start building his third team, which should be mainly in place by the time he leaves.
I do now fear absolute carnage at the weekend at Anfield — and I loathe that lot — but in the bigger scheme that is now a minor irritation.

I think Pep needs a share of the blame too. He made two nonsensical subs. Debruyne for Gundo and McAtee for Ake. He didn't need to do that.

That's just in hindsight.

There were plenty of people in the match thread that wanted Gundogan off and people questioning all week why McAtee doesn't start.

It was 3 mistakes and they capitalised on all of them.

It happens. But we didn't lose.

We’ve bought utter shite and let good players go to boot. Shocking business is coming home to roost
Nail on head.

The fact people are saying Nunes was the best player when everyone else apart from Haaland was poor sums it up.

1 good assist doesn't paper over the rest of the half arsed trotting around performance.
He is terrible all round, others are in terrible form though and others sadly may be finished at the top level.

Don't even know how Ederson has not kept any of those out, terrible positioning, like a Sunday league keeper.

Fuckin disaster that anyone who thinks otherwise is mad. Our shot to pieces confidence has completely disappeared with that!

Matey, I am with you on turning on the manager and players.

But there is a point when you can see Pep is not at the races and knows one mistake and all hell happens
I think everybody at the game or watching at home could see and feel what was coming even Pep knew it was coming,

Why on earth did he change the game at 3.0 and change it to suit them, Gundo Foden Ake off for 2 kids and a 25% fit KDB and leave us wide open, even after their first goal went in you should get hold of the team and sort it out and bring on Walker or Dias,

Pep's fault tonight, 100% got it wrong knowing what sort of bad form we have been in and all it took was a simple mistake and the wheels come off big time

Wouldn't mind staggering the subs but I think some subs were the right idea. Gvardiol made 2 glaring errors, Ederson could have done better with at least 2 goals and we shouldn't have played such a high line at that stage of the game, with such an inexperienced back 4.

We also had absolutely fuck all game management from the experienced players - not sure if it was a desperation thing but they all seemed anxious to get more goals & often compounded any mistakes. They are all mentally fragile at the moment
