I’m not that good on tactics and stuff but Kev doesn’t offer anything defensively so,at 1-0, without Rodri or any recognised defensive midfielder, bringing on Kev might be seen as a gamble at that stage?

Exactly, “with 15 minutes to go”. Not at half time which some people wanted. I think Kev is suffering from a lack of defensive cover which is restricting his game time now he’s apparently back from injury.

I grant you there was that option. However my point was that it was he who nearly scored. Who else could say that today.

I thought there were signs of improvement today. The last 5 games have been worryingly bad but something in that today for me.

I think there’s been good signs in every game, whether it was pretty much the whole of a half (Lisbon / Brighton) or even 20 minutes or half an hour in other games. We’ve been second best outwith that but far and away the biggest problem is that we have repeatedly shot ourselves in the foot.

The second goal was horrific, it came out of a nothing ball. The first goal, Akanji was very lackadaisical ambling across to Salah, reminiscent of Kyle’s recent style of defending. Get across and try and dominate your man, make it difficult for him to put on a decent cross or get off a shot.

We were much better at the start of the second half but we seen miles off being able to stitch a 90 minute performance together.

We need Jack, Kev, Stones, Kova, Doku back and able to play a lot more minutes than they currently are.

Right back and holding midfield are killing us, some of the old reliables look knackered so Pep doesn’t have his troubles to seek, that’s for sure.
