Why do people keep suggesting mediocre players? We need top notch players not one pass / one game wonders. Players that perform week in, week out. Defenders that can defend one on one and not part of a back ten. Players in midfield who can defend and create. Players who have a future and not a past.

There’s a lad called Rico Lewis. Don’t think he will cost much. He’s only 20 has forced his way in to his club side and his international side. His club side is managed by one of the best managers in the world so just maybe the lad has potential…. I think we should go for him. It may cost us a game now and again but in the long run he will be great value against most alternatives.

He has gone backwards this season. Frightened to pass forward and kills momentum too often. Might just be a dip in confidence and he may come good - hope so.

He's not a defensive midfielder. Bags of talent but that's not a role he can do. Sit him alongside a physical DM and he'll get back to his best form

We therefore either muddle on with what we have and hope for the best, or we look for a couple of practical, short-term signings. The Italian press are reporting that Verratti already wants out of Qatar, and he’s a player Guardiola has long admired. We already have a bit of a Dad’s Army midfield, I know, so he’d fit right in…

We're in a bit of a pickle tbh. We can't continue with this midfield in the hope things improve, performance and injury wise. A DM in Jan to provide some cover and allow for rotation is the priority. I know other positions need sorting but that is for the summer when we know where we're at.
