It is just not viable to make so many changes so often whether he was forced or not and yesterday Grealish and Doku subs and where they ended up playing is exemplary how he's been making wrong decisions. And with Rodri injured we kept the momentum somehow, but when it dawned on all of them he was gone for the whole season all positive energy to feed on disappeared.
I have no clue where it goes from here with the team playing the worst football since Mancini's last season, the change of DOF and him staying relatively short term.
I Just do not buy this 'end of cycle' theory , the players he is fielding every week are good enough - in my view - to mix it up to stay in the title race, but we somehow ended up with every single player being out of form, that is just not normal.
I'll still renew my season ticket, still travel to as many games to Etihad and London away games, but it is deeply worrying.

Can't find specific info on Taylor, though we did get some more money when he made his England debut last month.

Delap only unconfirmed reports it may be as low as 20 million but I cant see that being true unless it's triggered by Ipswich getting relegated.

Delaps buyback clause doesn't come in until the end of the season and by that time he may be gone, depending on how Ipswich are doing.
There are a few clubs rumoured be interested in buying him in the January window, including Villa and Chelsea
I thought his buyback clause was closer to £40m.

Yep I agree

Its highlighted a fair few players need moving on because they can't cut it as the top level anymore.

The problem is the club should be able to foresee this before it gets to this. It's not difficult to see some of them are getting up there in age or have poor injury records.

Now we've let it get to the point of pretty much needing an overhaul.

Nobody seems to know the details of his buyback clause, I even scoured the Ipswich forums and they are all arguing about it amongst themselves. I'd be very very surprised if we could pinch him back for 20 million in January but I don't see what issues he solves unless God forbid the big man gets injured.

200m lighter and 3 or 4 players in could transform our season, no chance of domestic or CL titles but the big one is next summer,( Club World Cup) 3 - 4 signing and a few players coming back to fitness could be perfect timing for us.

I said earlier in the week after the decade we have had there would be no complaints for me if we were not challagening but after the last month I have changed my opinion, losing and not competing is horrible.

I agree with your sentiments in the last paragraph. I didn't like getting beat in the bad times and I don't like it now either. I am amazed at some on here who talk about the old days as fun filled and carefree. There was nothing enjoyable about fighting relegation year in year out.
Again the rebuild will be about a lot more than money. Money is necessary but not sufficient for success. We now know that Pep can't work miracles, he needs the tools, and there are only so many quality players available and getting them in ain't easy. I'm hopeful but not expectant about the future.

Manchester City are not interested in offering Delap a route back to the reigning Premier League champions midway through the campaign, according to GMS sources, even though they will have an opportunity to leave current employers Ipswich helpless if they make a significant U-turn.

The Sky Blues inserted a £30million buyback clause into the deal which took the striker to Portman Road during the summer, meaning they can enter negotiations over personal terms if they lodge a bid which meets that figure, while they also included a 20 per cent sell-on clause to ensure they will profit if he moves elsewhere.

It was confirmed we didn't, it was an enforced sale for a set amount, not incremental performance based.

Exactly ! If anything the rebuild needs to be with the conditioning, physio and club doctors.

Get out first team on the pitch and the rebuild is simple. Defensive midfielder and Right back.
 
A club of our stature should never need a rebuild. The fact that we are even having to contemplate such a thing suggests, strongly, that those in charge of squad development took their eye off the ball. Irrespective of how this season turns out, those at the very top will now have a better understanding of the development process and be guarding against a repeat scenario.
 
The bench yesterday highlighted how stretched the squad is at the moment. There were two senior out field players we could bring on.

It feels similar to Pellegrini’s final season and Pep was coming in with a squad that has aged and needed serious attention. We have got the second highest average squad age in the league.

4-5 very strong signings need to happen over the next few windows. January will be very difficult to get players out of other clubs, if we did sign someone would it solve our immediate problems as the rest of the players on the pitch are on a poor run of form and struggling for fitness.

CL helps to attract the best. Any proper player isn’t going to sign somewhere that isn’t playing CL for 2 seasons.
 
Do we need to strengthen, yes. Are some of our players coming to the twilight of their careers, yes.

But rebuild isn't the word I'd use. Strengthening the squad definitely. A few extra players in key positions most certainly (especially someone who can play as the pivot when Rodri is unavailable, yesterday showed that neither Gundog or Rico are good enough in that role) But get everyone fit and we are still the best in the league.

If he want to hit the ground running next season, ideally we need players to come in January. History as shown us that players need a period of adaption to Pep’s tactics.

Whether we can achieve that, as you say is questionable, in a difficult transfer window.

Lowering the age of the squad and the profile of player needs to be the priority.

Little point complaining over injuries to the likes of Doku, Kovacic, Stones, De Bruyne etc as we know there injury records and even more inexplicable, if you keep these players, to go into such a hectic season with such a small squad and asset stripping your best academy players.

Again it hasn't affected Chelsea or even the rags that much but beyond that it does become an issue
