Blame the owners for not wanting to protect the heritage of the building by upgrading it to make it somewhere people want to stay. Instead they have decided they can make a sufficient amount of profit an easier way, putting the building at risk. If we want to protect our grade I and grade II listed buildings then we probably need a fit and proper ownership test, if we’re not that bothered (and this building used to be in a derelict state back in the 1960s) then it doesn’t really matter that it’s being used in this way.

If you read the article it mentions that building work is taking place, sadly it doesn't say how much it's costing us but I blame the government for signing long term contracts with hoteliers around the country. I don't blame the owners for taking a guaranteed income from the taxpayer. This isn't the only example and the free hotels and food expenditure should be capped. If that means migrants don't get everything they'd like then tough.

It's a genuine question - you think the Daily Mail are cunts and I shouldn't read it. Which news source would you consider not to be cunts?
 
It's no longer a hotel. It is asylum seeker accommodation. And probably not particularly warm in that stone building during the winter months. Their non paying residents can't exactly kick up much of a fuss.

If it was a profitable well run business they wouldn't have taken in asylum seekers instead of continuing to operate as hotel.

I know someone who lived in one of these "hotels" that had leaky ceilings

Just to wind you up even more, they may also get three meals a day included with their accommodation.

It’s a direct result of the previous government stymieing asylum applications and it’s going to take time to clear the backlog.

Plenty more vulnerable minorities to look forward to hating yet too. Trans people are very popular for hating at the moment, perhaps you should try and be outraged by their existence?

There’s been asylum system backlogs for at least 20-plus years.
I can’t see any Government ever clearing the backlog and just wait until asylum claims based on climate change start pouring in !
