Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

It shouldn’t have been a yellow card or a foul against Lewis but it wasn’t a penalty either. I’d be absolutely livid if that was given against us as a penalty, it’s just a coming together and should have been play on.
Keep an eye on the next two matches. It'll turn up in one of 'em.

According to the Mail, Coote has been sacked.

At least he’ll never have to ref us again.

Out of all the elation of trophy wins in recent years, one stands out to me because it was the only one where at the final whistle I was more pissed off and annoyed than celebratory - the FA Cup Final v United in the treble season. Never in my 40 years, and 35 years as a City fan, has a referee performance had me quite so angry. Good riddance.

But it took a vid of him correctly labelling klopp a bullying **** for anyone to take any action...

Poor refereeing, especially in the second half. It was hard to see the sending off live, but replays show that it was clearly wrong. Lewis made no contact and the defender actually stood on Rico. It was more, by far, a penalty to City than a foul by Rico and this from a referee in an ideal position to see! I might also add that VAR might not be able to intervene over a yellow card, but it could over a potential penalty. Hopefully the red will be overturned. But again we've seen a player sent off for dissent followed by a wrong decision while players are not sanctioned at all for violent "tackles".

Wasn't Declan Rice sending off a 2nd yellow red card given by VAR

No, it was shown on ‘Mic’d Up’. The referee’s only conversation before the red card was with his linesman. The VAR only got involved to clear the Brighton player of a potential straight red for kicking Rice.

Rob Jones manipulated that result. But we're not Liverpool so don't expect an apology from PiGMOL

Erling scores the pen. We win.
Go on I'll bite, which penalty should Jones have given ?

The only penalty that could have been given would have to have been given by VAR, from Jones position you could see why he thought it was a foul by Rico at full speed, only from slow motion can you see otherwise, he didn't get that chance.

He's a shit referee, and he was shit on Saturday, but he doesn't "manipulate the result", that's just conspiracy shit for me. I thought he was poor for both teams.

Which decisions would Palace fans be upset about?

Tierney was the referee for the 2023 FA Cup final

Ah, was Coote on VAR? I’m sure he was involved. Amongst other things were Casemiro being awarded a free kick for nearly breaking Rodri’s leg, and Grealish being penalised with a penalty for the ball brushing his fingernail while jumping. He definitely had some involvement - it must have been VAR.

The only thing they could moan about was that forward having a lie down for 3 minutes when the ref wouldn't stop play.

The Palace players soon learned that the way forward was that albino fucker to go down with a head injury from running into and brushing Rubens shoulder.

On a slightly different point I watched the Forest players go down with similar off the ball 'injuries' three times midweek. All seems a bit sudden, the odd one maybe but three?

I don't think in either game it was for a managers tactical talk, just to try and con the ref to give us a red.
