United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I'd honestly play a couple of the kids until we can get to January, at least they'd bring a freshness and some much needed energy to the team.

Pep won't though, he's far too loyal.
Agreed.

O'Reilly needs to start games, He has legs to get around the pitch, Playing other youth players would be no worse than what we are actually watching.

And 5 13 year olds on the bench.
Yep. Our squad is too small for a lower mid half team who’ll play 40 odd games per season. Nevermind for a team who is competing at the top end of 7 or 8 different competitions which could be getting on for 70 games, plus internationals. Whoever is responsible for that strategy needs to take a long hard look at themselves…

Always held out hope for him, but that one pass and attempt at the recovery "challenge" shows his lack of a football brain.
Pep isn't blameless here btw - and no I don't want him to quit/be sacked as it's ridiculous - I can't understand how he saw Nunes playing the role he was asked to today
And Nunes, not Doku, should have been subbed.

Indeed
I hope pep stop saying that the players did well
And actually get the players to look at the mirror in the dressing room

And for people saying pep out
They are just heartless
Not just heartless, panicking, we don't have a divine right to win so we just have to try and turn it around.

Liverpool and Arsenal have missed out on Champions League and the sky didn’t fall in.

We’ve been blessed lately but it takes planning

What makes a team are brilliant scouts and a brilliant manager.

A rebuild is needed with a 3/4 good ( not necessarily megastars) signings and a better way of getting our youngsters into the team.

Pep was cautioning about player burn out, injuries and health risks 3 years ago.....but collectively the club didnt act inspite of an increasing game schedule !!
Spot on. I put a lot of this season's issues down to burnout. And, I wonder how 'mentally fatigued' Pep and his team must be from devising tactics and gameplans from all the fixtures over the past few years. Not easy.

Walked back to town still in disbelief at what I’ve just witnessed, Anyway I love you city more than you know not the players not the manager
but the club I’ve followed for 52 years and the friends I’ve made along the way see you all at the next game Ctid
I've posted negatives today as I think it's fair based on our current expectations
But it'll always be my club - even if we slip back to the Championship or lower.

Blame falls on the players, the standards dropped so low within the squad, we lack leadership, can’t recall a pass back like that for a long time during peps time, it shouldn’t be happening. 5 mins away from being within 6 points of top and it’s just been thrown away coz of a lack of quality. Recruitments been criminal and we’re now seeing the effects.

I pointed this out in the pre match. The lad has absolutely no understanding of his own position let alone full back so it was suicidal playing him there.

First half he actually did pretty well but you can just see the lights are on but no one is home and at some point he’ll fuck things up.

There was a little taster in the first half where he played the most ridiculous ball inside that a 7 year old on Hough End would’ve got a bollocking for.

He has very very low football intelligence.

Disgraceful performance that, from start to finish, not once did we play any decent stuff, how the fuck have we gone backwards so much, don't blame the injury, something is clearly wrong, this squad won't finish in the top 4
fk ill be happy with 17th ...when do you see the next points - I can't see a team in the league who wouldn't fancy their chances against ..home and away...
Top 4 is just a distant silly day dream

Pep cant evolve without the players....

Another manager comes in tomorrow....do you think that that would change anything in the way we perfofm or play - I dont.....we would see different tactcis potentially, different set up but the fact is simple....none of that works with players who can no longer play the physical side of the game at the top level and there in lies the problem with 3 of our key players...Gundo, KDB and Walker
This kills me to say but Bernardo is cooked as well...

That's part the problem. He'll tell them we played well, he'll be happy with the short passing, not giving the ball away trying to create something extravagant.

The team we currently have cannot play his way. And he's proving all those haters and doubters that say he has to spend to get the team to play his way. And we've spent poorly and not up to scratch as we can all see.

But he wants to continue and is to stubborn to think of a complete new way of playing that incorporates his control. Why can't we put a ball over the top with haaland up top. That's how they won the game

I watched the women's team today. This passing back or square when it's easier to pass forward is endemic throughout the club with exactly the same result.i understand the "patience" thing and moving the other team around until they tire but how long before you realise that either you don't have the players to execute it properly or other teams have learned how to counter it with ease. Something has to change fundamentally.
