United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

our ability to let all our decent back room staff just drift away ids embarrassing how did we let wilcox fk off to 'them' when hey were in no better position than us? ...what did we do so badly during negotiations / conversations ...we have the worse sales team in history ..you've got to keep selling the dream to good staff..were awful at that - now its all coming home!
Other clubs give them bigger titles and more money. It’s not rocket science and they’re not exactly a small club.

Heading for disaster, no Champions League next season, the few quality players we have will head for the door . Building a stand that will be empty . We will be quoted astronomical prices for new players , many won’t sign for a team not in the Champions League. But hey ho record turnover and profit is all that counts .
look on the bright side at least the tourists will FO

Play the kids at Villa , O' Reilly, Wright, Pusey...
Time for bold moves now because the season is royally fucked now. Haaland needs dropping too

Sat here again digesting a self-inflicted loss - can add this one to ever more painful pile of Sporting, Brighton, Spurs & Feyenoord (draw but felt worse)

A tight game, not the best quality but we had done enough to have it won. The main change second half was they pushed their wing backs on and developed some possession - we had it handled. Kovacic sub was a help.

Then the implosion. You can make one mistake but don't make a second smashing into a player waiting for it. Then just total head loss for the second.

The most painful thing is we are doing this to ourselves.

That must be pretty much the worst Rag side to come to The Etihad since it opened. They had very little to offer and yer can see how they get beaten at The Swamp, but if yer gonna self-destruct twice in two fuckin' minutes even shit can beat yer.

Another game where we can't hang on to a lead.

It seems that the hair-trigger self-destruct button can go off in any of the ninety mins and there's a growing number of players who can trip it.

I'm finishing with footy until Boxing Day.

Oh and Taylor was his usual bag of shite.

Fuck off Boyley!!
Only started going when they had a decent team , I can vouch for that
Me too.
Not interested until the trophies started rolling in.
Such a "top red" that he went to a poll tax protest the day the Rags played Arsenal.
The match with the brawl that ended in a points deduction.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to Sky Sports:

"This year it happens many times unfortunately. We gave away many things. We are not nice in the way we played. Before it's so fluid, now we're struggling for different reasons. A lot of defeats. We put everything in and the game was almost closed. They had more possession first half but nothing special. We give away two goals, very difficult.

"It is what it is. What can I say? We can not blame this player or that one, it's not that. It's the season, a tough season.

"We didn't play our best. We are not our best and we struggle a bit. Now we don't play for the week.

"Previously we didn't lose that many in two seasons. Now we've done it in eight games. You have to defend. We have lost a lot of games. It's difficult. We have to move on and try to find the solution and try to win games.

"I think in nine years it wasn't the toughest defeat. Champions League defeats harder. But at the moment, we need results to lift our mood. It's getting worse and worse. I have to find the solution. So far I didn't find it and this is the truth.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC Match of the Day:

"Not much to say. No defence, they were incredibly persistent. We have not lost eight games in two seasons. We can't defend that. It's not about this or that player. We gave away goals, our fault. We don't play with composure. The results are not good, the game was not exceptional. I know the situation, I understand but the reality is this.

"They have to know that these situations happen. In the box you have to be careful. It's not about Matheus [Nunes], he played really good in not his position at full-back. But it's not about that, we have to play better. The result will help us to take our best but right now we don't have it. The way I learn is to keep going.

"I'm not good enough. I am the boss, the manager, I have to find solutions and so far I haven't. That's the reality.

"We want to play better, create chances. But at the moment it's not possible."

If he means they were boring the fuck out of everyone while having less possession he's bang on. When you've got young kids your brain stops working.
If by 'controlling' the game he means frustrating United, the he might be right ..... but we certainly weren't causing them any problems .... we were allowing them to push forwards and spray the ball around.

That's was really bad, at least when we was shite we played derbys with a passion, we are just way too old and static as a team now, grim as fuck

Nail in the coffin for Nunes. Won’t see him playing in a city shirt again after that fuck up.
Yes but the problem is that there are half a dozen others who we will see again unfortunately...

The PL have had almost a decade of pep ball ….books have been written, analyses cut, one, two, three different ways, positional play copied, keeper use adopted…..

It’s over, too obvious now, teams know how to counter the tactics
Nah, it's the execution that's the issue. You can see it watching on TV.

Players in the wrong place, getting each others way, not making the little movements into space etc.

Classic collective loss of confidence and playing with fear.

Combined with the injuries and ageing key players, it's a perfect storm.

Sadly I am not sure who will sign with the legal case hanging over us
Think this team in it's current form is largely finished now. New, young, hungry energetic side required. We're better placed than most as a club to create it, needs to happen

Facts are that in the League we are currently 5th. We are the 6th top scorers and we have the 12th best defensive record. Everton and Palace (15th and 16th) have conceded less than us. Wolves, 2nd from bottom have scored only 4 goals less.
