Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Doesn’t look as though villa are getting any credit on here for a good performance and result.

We’re winning the next 3 ( Everton, Leicester, West Ham) and everyone’s gonna applaud Pep for turning it around.

I am at a loss to know what’s happening. I can’t believe the players are not playing for Pep. Why would that happen all of a sudden?

The raging pessimist thinks it’s related to the witch-hunt but that doesn’t seem right.

Perhaps it’s simply injuries and a team that’s run it’s course.

What I do find off putting is that we are continually playing almost like zombies. Slow slow and side to side. Can’t Pep see this?

Only consolation of this decline is not something that’s happened over a long time. At least we can see there is a problem straight away.

We've got a new DoF arriving in the summer. Plenty of fresh ideas with that. Wenger had complete control of Arsenal, something Pep doesn't have, although he does have some input.
Both both Guardiola and Wenger won’t compromise so if change is forced on him then he goes but upro date he nor anybody at the has changed how we play football when clearly we need too

Our only win in 12 was when Grealish played in the middle.

I don't get why he hasn't played there agsin since the Forest game. I just don't get it worked than, than next game Grealish was dropped or injured. But my point is it work when has he played there again. It's fucking baffling

I think he played there v Juve and wasn't great.
He's had maybe 2-3 good games in the last 18 months.

Too many good young players have been sold on. The team is leggy at best, too many senior players on a downward spiral.

I find it hard to believe we haven’t got any reserve/ youth players that could do a better job in central midfield than what we have in there

I hope Pep wants to stay and rebuild

What was it, have a DNA system right through the playing levels

Agree, utterly baffling !

Klopp didn't either. Livepool haven't changed much and are still reliant on Salah. Fergusson neither ventured too far and he had total control on first team matters.

Simply nowhere need good enough. Our physicality is amongst the worst in the league, struggle to run, tackle and press with any intensity and when in possession teams are just suffocating us we ponderously move the ball about.

I’m watching looking for signs of lads getting pissed off, stepping up their effort and desire to make a difference but they all look like their afflicted by a general malaise.

Was KDB left on the bench to save him for Everton or other reasons?

How long will we persist with Gundo who looks like he’s running through ever thicker treacle game by game. He could still be an important part of the squad but he’s simply not cut out to play from the start game after game.

The most depressing aspect is that there are still no green shoots of recovery, it’s same old, same old.
