Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Right I've gone along a bit on your angle but now shut the fuk up. There is zero celebrating about how shit we are atm knowing this was going to happen!

Please dont tell me what I can and cant post.

No one is celebrating how shit we are at the moment. You and others may think in such binary, black and white ways but I don't.

Thinks aren't great at the moment. But there are reasons for it.

And it isn't because Pep has lost the team, or everyone is shit and all need to fuck off out the club and be sold. Some are even going after the assistant manager, they've lost their heads that much.

There's no confidence, no pace, no eagerness, no press, no leadership, no getting stuck in, no attacking threat, no energy, no nothing.....which is the complete opposite to the last 4, 5 ,6 years.

I don't know what's wrong, and I don't have any answers to making it right. At the moment it's like we're watching another team. It's crazy. I'm not angry as such, I'm just bewildered by it all.

All we can do is hope some fresh legs come in in jan who can galvanise us a bit into at least making our midfield a bit stronger and more competitive. We're missing legs in the centre of the park, games are won and lost there. Fingers crossed we get the right guy/s in and just limp to the seasons end and then use rhe summer window to really get some reinforcements in, hopefully guys with power pace skill energy and will to run and win :-)

I don't want Pep out.
The questions are down to Pep and his setup and the small squad and having to play them every week
We used to have a great bench and 2nd 11 and it won us the league cup for 4 seasons so why did it change

Also, the questions will bite you on the bum when things are not going your way, Left back problems, Right back problems, Hold midfield replacements, 2nd striker

All the things we have dodged and got lucky with over the years have come back to bite us hard
Agreed but you can understand the motto if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I doubt many in decision making positions at the club saw this coming at least as dramatic as it has for if they did I would expect they would have addressed it earlier.

If they did I would be more concerned they did little if anything to address it.

Pep deserves to call time on his tenure here but clearly the squad is a spent force now and maybe it will be a blessing in disguise that that the decline was so quick as much as it stinks now.

I have never expected City to win any game even the good times,
It's not losing to Villa that is the problem, it is the lack of willingness to fight and come off the pitch knowing you have given your all,
They played like a defeat was expected at times. Difficult mindset to overcome, especially with no bollocks or leaders on the pitch.

I find it incredibly bizarre how much abuse Rico Lewis takes in comparison to someone like Kovacic.

Haaland is stinking the place out on the pitch , Jack is “I’ve become a dad me “. Any **** can make a baby Jack , how about being a dad on the pitch instead of a bitch, and people give Rico shit.
Haaland is the one player I have a bit of sympathy for at the minute.
Yep he’s been poor recently but I can understand why he’s getting frustrated with our lack of creativity and support.
It’s easy to mark him out of the game when he’s the only threat of a goal.
He could drop deeper but then we’ve zero chance of scoring.
He certainly could do more and play better but right now I don’t see any striker flourishing in this current squad/form.
Jack needs to go along with quite a few others.
Take whatever you can get and move on.

Said it on match day thread, this bad run commenced at FAcup final. There’s something cancerous in our club right now.
Admitting to turning up hangover to a FA cup final against your greatest rivals is a sackable offense. Kompany would rather donate a kidney than lose to the rags. Mentality, motivation and team spirit is probably at its worst post Mansour takeover

Fragile. This isn’t a poor run of form, it’s a collapse.

We started badly, really badly and were lucky Ortega was alert. Too many senior players hiding and not taking accountability. There’s no leadership being shown on the pitch and that makes for painful viewing.

We clearly need to bring in more than a few and move out a few, however, I don’t think we’re going to go balls deep in January at all. We may get 1 or two but I don’t think they’ll be players we’d necessarily jump for joy at the thought of signing.

For whatever reason, the executive team at the club have allowed our squad to get into this shape and Pep has insisted on a small, aging squad that are afraid to tackle, always injured and that have strengths that cannot be utilised by the tactics and current personnel. Assuming all goes well in court we’ll start the rebuild in summer but it’s going to take time and patience.

I don’t think Pep knows how to change it without adding to the squad. He isn’t going to change his demands on the players or how he wants us to play so strap in, put our big boy pants on and see what happens.

All of that said, it wasn’t the worst performance of late.

Edit: @aka blue jambo i owe the charity of your choice a 10 spot.

4 titles in a row, a decade of dominance but a bad two months means Pep has been sussed...
This is not an overnight fall from grace we have been on the slide for a couple of years now and managed to get over the line by more luck and others team’s failings than our dominance

May have set the tone for what we're seeing now. Team's ran it's course. Clear out and rebuild time. Gotta be ruthless though.

Guardiola has achieved winning 4 titles on a row, something both Wenger and Ferguson had failed to do.
I think with respect to Wenger I would agree but again Wenger was ahead of his time but he was caught and his refusal to change was his downfall,

Ferguson I agree he did win 4 in a row but it’s a moot point really, he won way way more titles because he was pragmatic, I’m not sure Guardiola could match that with his refusal to adapt

We are not looking at a few tweaks her and there we need a significant number of players
