Everton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Thats the most concerning thing, even at the end with Mancini or Pellers it was never this bad. And there's no sight of it improving anytime soon.... nothing to do with pep though most on here would tell you.
I mean the players are making the mistakes. We are not finishing our chances. Not sure what pep had to do with that… I get he can change his tactics or whatever but we are getting chances and we don’t finish them.. derby game 87th nunes gets a brain fart.. now how is that pep? He isn’t on the field. And no everyone is fit where he can not start certain players.

Came out of the stadium and was just resigned rather than angry. We started so well, moving the ball quickly and playing with real intent, often quite directly. The two wide players were tucked inside, which gave us numbers in midfield. Then we scored and the wingers moved out wide, after which we looked less effective. But overall a good first half compared to recent showings.

Then we did nothing in the second half, and even managed to fuck up the penalty. After that the belief seemed to disappear and we were lucky Everton messed up that 4 on 2 near the end. What was noticeable though was that in previous seasons, in the last 15 minutes, we'd throw the kitchen sink at the opposition to get that winning goal. Yet we barely upped the intensity and played like we were 3-1 up. It's very worrying but as long as we get a point from each of our home games, we should be safe from relegation.

The results are to do with Pep though. 1 win in 13.

Funny how when we win its all down to Pep but now were in a shocking run of form its all down to the players. Same story every week. Cant have it both ways.

You do realize what he says in the media is not what he says to the players and such right? Have you seen any of this documentary… also I guess it’s his fault haaland missed the pk and berno missed a sitter etc
I didn't single out Pep as the only problem. However, the buck stop with him.
Haaland has been poor and low on confident for several weeks, drop him.

It’s on both the players and the coaching staff (which isn’t just Pep). Players are making mistakes and missing chances and the passing accuracy is off, but equally we look a shambles, defensively uncoordinated, poor attacking plan, rubbish set pieces, those things are 100% on the coaching staff.

Honestly, I thought there was flashes of things being better today.

Periods where we were controlling the game, lifting the tempo when the space appeared, then snuffing out any counter attacks.

Also thought we were mixing it up better, going long into Haaland at times.

Unfortunately we got worse and worse as the game went on.

Thought we started well and played with a real intent to move forward rather than sideways. I was feeling quite pleased.
Then their goal came which was against the run of play but still always a looming threat that cMe to fruition.

After that we reverted to type and started playing sideways, but also with the fear we've seen in recent weeks.

To my mind, we are now trying too hard and over thinking everymove to the point where we are not playing naturally. The net result is taking slightly longer on the ball, playing the wrong pass, taking one extra touch... which all adds up to disjointed performance.

By the end of the game I'd changed my opinion about us having made a decent effort. I think Everton helped make us look OK. There was even kķa moment with a couple minutes left where*ì Everton had 4 vs 2 and could have taken all three points.

We have had rubbish set pieces since forever in all fairness
