Everton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I wouldn’t let Jack anywhere near the team tbh , hes in a Vuitton , young baby , Chinese chicken wings bubble world of his own , not scored a goal in the whole of 2024 . Doku all day long - and Doku is like speed boat without a pilot - but he scores one in six.
Fair enough.
I'd still like him available as back up of some sort though given the injury situation.

btw I was surpsised at Everton's approach of bit of high line and pressing 1st half already. did not expect that from Dyche. I guess our fear factor is so much gone, even the likes of Dyche not scared to move up the field a bit and probably clever enough to see our recent failing coming after even a tiny bit of pressure put on our midfield and defence.

our slow build up and midfield on no decent structure/control/speed, really plays into he hands of any shit team that aint afraid to press a bit and run a few counters.

Wouldn't say title- challenging but today was a good performance relative to what we have seen from our boys this past few weeks. If the Gvardiold header goes in and Erling scores the penalty we are home and dried and on the up again.
Small margins. Everton are good at getting clean sheets as Pep has said. But we weren't good enough in that we didn't win the game and that's how we are judged.
An experienced energetic defensive midfielder in the January window plus a defender to give cover for our injured back line and we will have a breathing space to fully stop the rot and go on to have a better season than we are right now. Remember players will be available to buy. Dias was a January signing and what a player he has proved to be for us.
At the moment we only have eight first team players available. It's still horrendous for Pep and for all of us. But we must show more fight in trying to get the win.
Hope Jack is back for Leicester

didnt realise that about Dias. good shout

I was happy to see balls over the top to runners from midfield and Haaland. It allowed space for them to attack. When we play down the sides we attract too many extra defenders so a cross is pointless.

But then it stopped. The one sign of a decent new tactic just vanished before my eyes.

So we were back to the old unreliable.

I had to laugh (in sadness) when Gvardiol ( who imo was one of the few genuine triers) was surrounded by 3 men so passed blindly into the middle of midfield and obviously giving away possession in a dangerous position. But who gave him any flippin option. Or laugh I did when Lewis threw his hands in the air repeatedly because people weren't passing to the one spot he stood still in. Only to eventually get the ball and do eff all with it. Or anyone who constantly passed the ball like a hot potatoe because they had no clue what else to do. This is a shambles from top to bottom.

There needs to be a fresh approach imo. But can Pep do that? I wish he fuckin would.

We need a fully fit back four of Dias, Ake, Stones and Akanji. Ortega will be in goal because obviously Ederson is on a sulk. Walker is finished as a top class defender and Lewis isn't the answer. Gvardiol I have no idea what's happened to him but he's never been the greatest defender.

Midfield is then a problem as Gundo is finished and no Rodri. Kev and Foden are shadows of themselves and Bernie looks fucked. Surely a couple of younger legs could come in they couldn't do much worse?

Upfront Haaland is strolling about as if he couldn't give a fuck and missing chances he'd normally bury. Our two wingers just don't create or score enough and that's about it.

Now hopefully players getting and staying fit and regaining some form might get us back into a top four place and that's about the best we can hope for this season. Allowing so many of the squad to get old together has left us with a huge rebuilding job. We probably need another keeper, a left and right back, another center half who stays fit, a couple of midfield players and at least one decent mobile striker. Omitting a keeper that's six players minimum. They have to be top quality if we are to regain our place at the top. It's going to be tough.

Sad but true , its the prefect storm , injuries , fitness ( lack of it ) and a number of players like KDB , Silva, Ederson , Walker , Stones , Gundy, maybe Grealish as well knowing it their last season with us and having trouble in the main playing out a game of football now.

Foden and Haaland of late have lost all form and with that goes their confidence and without Rodri what are we left with just a few average support players that you would only use in Cup games and when injuries are too severe.

Its going to be a very long season with lots more defeats and injuries to come.

Don't get involved Kaz.The guys a fucking tool. Only comes on when we're struggling. His name is a huge giveaway. Straight on ignore.
You are right , there are a group that are enjoying themselves spamming the place ,thought i had them all on ignore to save me from getting in trouble mainly ! I will add this one
