How many points to win the league?

Really need to lose two games so they don’t break 100 points, I’m hoping if they’ve won by April and they go deep in other competitions he rotates so they lose or draw a couple. Hoping also someone steps up to stop them winning the CL as well.

They have everything that we used to have.

Solid defence with Pace in the full back areas.

A midfield mix of steel and agility.

And a lethal forward line.

Also decent subs coming on that look like they all want to play and be part of the team.

Any of our fans that still watch their games amaze me. If they were playing in my back garden I'd shut the blinds.

A by product of us not being involved this season, is that it’s killed any interest in the rest of the league for me.

I’m watching Arsenal now and Liverpool last night but I couldn’t really give a shit if they win or not.

I don’t care who wins the league. I don’t care who gets relegated. I don’t really even care who gets in Europe, including us.

In hindsight, having spent so long hoping United don’t win the league, at least added a bit of interest at the time.

It is an odd one as we fell away in 2019/20 and were 14 behind at this stage (18 games), which is all we are now (however may be 17 when Liverpool have played 18) but we were 3rd and second favourites.

That is the only year we were out of it for a long time at this stage. In 2015/16 we were level top after the NYD games, Points GD for and against. In 2015/16 we needed to be Leicester away to go top on Boxing day, we drew 0-0 but still well in touch. Obviously we tailed off a bit after that in both, especially the latter.

In 2016/17 we were 8 points behind at this stage, and were 3rd, but it felt like a bigger gap as Chelsea had a 16 point swing on us at the top and form was poor after winning the first 6.

2012/13 we were 4 points behind in 2nd at the same stage with title hopes after 18 (even though they were all but gone after 20).

2010/11 - 14 behind with level games, so likely better than this season.

2009/10 - 11 points behind and Hughes got the sack after it (Mancini comes in 15 years ago on Boxing Day)

2008/09 - 21 points behind and bottom 3 after that last min WBA A loss

2007/08 - 9 off under Sven.

Season is only half done. Long way to go. Also looks like Trent is pissin off at the end of the season. I do wonder if the contract situations with Salah, VVD and Trent could effect them. As of right now, they are strictly Liverpool players, however come January 1 they can negotiate with other clubs - that changes the dynamic.

I still think Arteta can reel them in

Not.A.Chance.

Trent’s going to RM, but Salah & VVD will stay. Slot is too competent, and has too big of a First XI squad to fuck it up from here.

Arsenal are at least 2 players short. They need a 20+ goal striker and they’re 1 defender light…maybe even a Partey replacement, too.

It’s Liverpool’s to choke on, but from here, it really would be a choke.

Liverpool
Arsenal
Chelsea
City

Keep the faith!

The problem I have with this is based on performances so far this season there isn't a Title winning side that the current Arsenal team is better than since Leicester. So we don't look like a title winning team at present which makes me think we won't be unless we get more fluency.

I used to agree but their constant cheating antics are a hard watch, I know Salah and Jota do the same but watching Arteta’s Arsenal, its everyone
I agree there are dark arts at times, Arsenal hardly the only team to do this and our players like Saka get constantly fouled.

As it happens the absolute worst case of cheating I've seen all season was Kyle Walker against United so people in glass houses and all that. From a City perspective that was an isolated case but I do think it diluted some of the supposed moral upper hand.

Walker doing that was just an embarrassing spur of the moment piece of cheating. With Arsenal it’s endemic and is as much a part of Arteta’s gameplan as fouling the keepers during your corners

Anyway Saka has had an operation and will be out until March at the earliest. Given our huffing and puffing tonight against a shockingly poor Ipswich I can't see us slicing through defences enough to win the league. I think Liverpool will slip up but whether we can be ruthless enough in front of goal to capitalise I'm not convinced.

Why Arteta didn't bring Nwaneri on today was a mystery. He's the new starboy with a supposedly higher ceiling than Saka, but he needs more experience. When is he going to get that?

Also, let's take another moment to laugh at United. What an absolute clusterf*ck of a club. Hahahahahahahaha!

Whatever happens this season at least we can enjoy United being in a relegation battle in their supposed 'we're baaaaacckkk' season. It's like the Muppet Show over at Old Toilet!

And as for 'it's who we are mate' our rivals down the road. Just lovely. How's the 'we don't care if we finish fifth as long as Arsenal don't win the title' working out for you eh lads?

So when City 'do it' its out of character, but when Arsenal 'do it' its representative of the club.

Sounds ridiculous to be honest.
