Everton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

We had a decent start today, but the reality is any team that runs out of gas every game on 60 mins like we do doesn’t have a chance of winning games.

Sides better than Everton would have scored 2 or 3 goals against us in the shambolic last 15 mins where every City attack shortly reverted to a 4 on 2 Everton attack.
We are running out if stream at that time because we have players who are still injured or just recovered from injury, playing. The bench had only KDB and Gundo with any experience and KDB was getting over the flu virus.

It was about finishing top 5,or that bit was, I said 3 squad additions make it more likely, not difficult to understand is it. What Echeverri being in the first 11 has to do with I have no idea.

Yes, the page is turning on some stellar careers and we'll rebuild. But we have the first proper run of bad form for over eight years and the blue moaners are out in force. We have some twitchy bottler fans - each blue moaner claims to have the answers. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but the blue moaners going into meltdown don't have the answers - JUST MY OPINION - before the blue moaners come back at me. One bad run of form with a fully fit squad in eight years is incredible - let alone our squad and the injuries. No finishing positions decided in December. JUST MY OPINION - fans need to get behind our team after what they've given us for over eight years and stop the blue moaning.

Has anyone explained why the player that gave away the penalty didn't receive a second yellow ?
He should have done.

He should have done.
People have a right to be concerned this is the worst run since Agent Hughes got the chop after a string of draws. Yes credit is well earned and banked but this rut has an end of the line feel about it. If the poor results continue expect the boos to grow in January.

It's because the 'greatest coach in the world' is obsessed with retaining possession.

Pep is risk averse. He always has been. That's why we're stuck on a 'rinse and repeat' cycle.

Playing on the counter probably isn't even in Pep’s vocabulary.
It’s almost like Pep has won shedloads of trophies with that possession style and thinks it might not be worth risking.

1 game, most of the rest were winnable.

Your important fact makes it look worse actually!

It shows that teams, poor teams don't have to do very much at the moment to get a result.

I thought Villa were poor but could have scored 4

Everton were terrible but could have had 3

Spuds who are terrible overall scored 4 ffs.

The list goes on. We are piss easy to score against and can't score enough.

Our goal yesterday was a lucky deflection but then Pickford wasn't tested. Our wide men had plenty of opportunities to get a ball in but didn't do it enough.

Fuck knows what the answer is but that yesterday has done nothing to improve confidence in the team.
Most games have had one goal in them.

Yesterday will have done less damaged than a defeat.

The answer is get players fit, bring in a couple of additions, and hopefully we’ll get the magic ingredient of luck.

Just need to ride it out

Exactly. The last thing a knackered team wants to be doing is chasing teams all over the park any more than they need to.

As youd expect but the most boring thing at the mo sre the gatekeepers who are deciding who are massive blues and who arent and call other blues “rag” and “plastic” if they dare to have a moan
It's like they are watching different games to us and the watching football world. Baffling!!

They are living in the past and cannot move forward into the world of reality.

Yes City have given us the best unimaginable memories, but to keep banging on about them when we are deep in the shit isn't going to fix our current situation!!

It's like saying Pep will be in the dressing room before a game saying "it's OK lads, we've done a treble and 4 in a row. If we get beat don't worry about it"

It's a coping mechanism. Some would come to the conclusion that others already have at some point down the line, and some just cannot accept any criticism of the current situation. Remember what we've achieved, but it's time to look to the future now.

Maybe I'm a bit negative or just realistic but all things considered overall I was happy with the draw yesterday, we prob shud of lost with the 4v2 towards the end of game.
It's an awful run at the moment obviously, but if we can avoid another defeat on Sunday then get players back an maybe a signing or 2 in Jan I really do feel we can turn the corner, I have faith in Pep and he's got alot of credit in the bank with me. We really do need to know now tho whr we stand with the charges then we can move on and rebuild properly.

There comes a time when some players just can't hack it any more at top level, and drop off the pace etc.
That's where we are now. Pep's style works, but only if he's got the players capable of following it. Right now, largely due to poor succession planning, he doesn't have that luxury.
As an experienced coach, he should be able to adapt his style/system to suit the players he has available to him... i.e. build around getting the ball forward quicker to Haaland.
The problem is that, in my view, Pep is risk averse. He's seen his (version of Johan Cruyff's) style of play being successful for so many years, he's scared of changing tack so significantly.
