Everton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Lots of flapping on here. We don’t have a right to win every game. This season is a write off I have accepted that. Top four unlikely and would actually prefer no European football next season. There were some green shoots out there today and if Haaland scores his penalty we win comfortably. I just hope Pep has them in tomorrow and makes them watch the video back of our defending. How we can allow a four on two in the last minute is school boy stuff. We go again at Leicester and now is the time the plastics can disappear and proper fans get behind the team. Would prefer to play in front of 40k blues than 53k full house where 10k are on their phones all game.

I fully understand he doesn't want to throw his players under the bus, and all credit to him for that. But seriously? "The performance against that team was really good offensively and defensively"

I'll have to invest in a new telly, as my current one didn’t show that.
He also said he was happy with performance at Villa when it was horrible second half.

I despair of how many times there's a forward pass 'on' - and you can see Haaland, or even KDB in the 2nd half moving ahead into space - then the guy on the ball turns inside, or backwards and lays off the ball. I can't see any change in our fortunes until this stops. It's got us absolutely nowhere for nearly 3 months now.

Yes, we may give possession away a little more, but we might just cause a panic in the opposition defence with an unexpectedly early forward pass. Might create a chance, even.

I hoped for 7 points out of Everton, Leicester and Brentford. I'll settle for 5 now.
My thoughts exactly we throw away the halfpromising situations so they come to nothing, same with lack of snap shots. How a lot of goals happen

Maybe the players are reluctant to play even a calculated ‘risky’ forward pass for fear of losing possession and the opposition having a breakaway which puts any kind of pressure on our leaky defence.

First 10 minutes looked lively. Played at a tempo, looked to get it to the wingers quickly and actually looked to turn them once in a while with haaland and foden runs behind. Thought to myself, okay this is more like it, peps at least looked to change things. Then we scored and we decided to abandon that retuen to the play thats seen us win 1 in 13 games, try and just play keep ball with no intent to score and wait for them to score.

The lack of effort to put a bloody tackle in or get back is an utter disgrace, it's the type of stuff you see when teams want their manager sacked and that's the totally unacceptable part of the display and what makes fans angry. I wasn't one to boo, I don't agree with it and will not partake in it but it's hard to argue against it when we witness 1 player get surrounded by 3 of ours and still retains possession or when they break and it's 4 on 2 with no sign of anybody sprinting back. The basics aren't there.

Everton will come away with that disappointed at a draw, they should have scored at least one of the times towards the end when we simply allowed them to stroll forward and outnumber us in attack.

Reinforcements in January shouldn't be far away if txiki has bothered to do his job but I'm becoming increasingly convinced it won't be the answer to all our problems many think it will be, there's just too many problems.

Don't be down Blues the leagues gone we all know that, but top 4 or 5th spot could get us a place champs league next seson. Also I think we will sign couple players next month and a couple back from injury the confidence will be back.Today the Bernardo and the pen miss did us, shit happens lots of games left and we will still be top 7 end of the day so it's not all doom.

He’s hardly going to say “Well, Kev and Gundog are 73, everyone is either injured or playing with an injury and a few of the lads are bobbins and I’ll be getting rid as soon as I can” is he mate?
Yeah; I get that. Maybe something like "we didn't play to the standards we are capable of. We're all disappointed, and are working hard in training to try to get an improvement in results"? No throwing any individual to the wolves. Collective responsibility.
