Yes, an extra 4 points would make a big difference, but just papering over the cracks. If we’d not collapsed against United and Haaland had stuck the penalty away against Everton the league table would have had a different look to it. Small margins and all that.
Just one of the many who don't look fit yet. He looked like a tomato when he came off.
And what's this surprise 70th thing? Did you forget or something? ;)
Can somebody repost the Pep chant and video at the end of the match. Thanks. I can’t find it in the thread.
Wins no matter whether fortunate or not bring confidence and energy. Plus filling the whole in the Center of the park which we will hopefully sort soon.Yes, an extra 4 points would make a big difference, but just papering over the cracks.
Yesterday was the first piece of good luck City have had for a long while. LCFC created several good chances.
But, however, where City were largely fortunate yesterday, was the pace that Leicester played.
They were slowish and measured, without taking many risks.
They are in the bottom 3 for a reason.
Bournemouth, Brighton, Fulham or perhaps even Brentford would have beaten City yesterday.
An important result, but apart from Savinho and McAtee's cameo (which came about due to Phil's injury), was there that much of an improvement yesterday ?
Literally didn't hear a peep out of them all game, it was so loud in the away end. After about the 100th verse of Follow you Everywhere, there were plenty of us struggling for dear life, constant singing, no lulls, song after song...us FOC's need a breather lads n lasses. As an aside did Leicester fans stop playing with their clackers long enough to manage a rhetorical WWYWYWS?
Agreed. The frustrating thing is many of us saw this coming and warned we’d be in big trouble if we lost Rodri, as you say how the club didn’t is frankly astonishing. The area where all the other problems are stemming from is the fact we don’t have a single DM in the squad to cover the role Rodders does.
Yesterday it was Kovacic but it was crystal clear he isn’t anywhere near defensively aware enough. I counted about 15 times in the game where he was either out of position or not switched on to the opposition player/movement into space he should’ve been covering.
When Rodders is there that only happens once or twice per game as he is incredible at the role.
It leaves us woefully exposed. I think that then impacts us going forward as we’re too scared to take risks (hence the side to side nonsense) due to the fact we’ll get countered very easily.
Get a good DM in and the improvement will be enormous.
It is absolutely mindblowing that the club has allowed there to be no player in the squad that can cover that role.
So why not tell Kova to just sit protecting the back four?Agreed. The frustrating thing is many of us saw this coming and warned we’d be in big trouble if we lost Rodri, as you say how the club didn’t is frankly astonishing.
I suppose it will be more enjoyable knowing how it ends.Watch the game again, enjoy it again.
Big Earl was pushing Pep away from Harry Winks who was about get a restraining orderI have to say I did wonder if the senior players had had a word with Guardiola to change things around a bit to help an under- staffed, unfit, out of confidence squad get through this tough patch. Guardiola is a stubborn fucker and maybe a little kick from the senior players was needed.
Squad morale still seems fine, and Haaland physically pushing Guardiola to acknowledge the away fans to take credit was noteworthy as well, I thought. Maybe the players are helping my him through this tough patch as well ....
Winks? He couldn't get close to a lamp post.Big Earl was pushing Pep away from Harry Winks who was about get a restraining order
He's a fukin liability in the 6 role all day longI don't understand why Kova just doesn't sit in front of the back four to protect it. Most of the game he was knowhere near and we were constantly overrun. Why does Pep allow this or is this how Pep wants him to play?
Just watched the re run on City plus. Obviously delighted with the win but how the fuck did we manage that. We were very fortunate indeed. I really dont see any improvement. The same old blips, we still look so exposed. Interestingly we have rarely had so little possession in a match but we got the win. Seems possession doesn't always get us where we need to be. Shout out for McAtee. If we can get Savvy and Doku scoring we will start motoring.
Yes, I agree. Our intensity has gone. We would normally get the ball back within 30 seconds of losing it. Seems we don't have the legs/ fitness levels to do that for 90 mins, hence the drop off in the second half of games. We would usually smother the opposition, not give them a minute to breath. That is lost for now and I am not sure how we get that back. Maybe that is why we are prepared to let the other team have more of the ball and drop deeper as we did in this game. However it is alien to our players and they must find it hard to adapt. We got the lucky bounces of the ball for a change and really happy for sav and thor . The whole problem stems from our lack of pressing and we are not making many tackles to stop teams running through the rodders gap , the defenders have all lost confidence at the same time , nathan aside but he cant stay fit, aybe attack is the best defence for now ? And forget the possession stats
