West Ham (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Well there is no DM is there? Midfield is porous. So he's got to put Kovacic in there and generally have more of the possession than the opponent to give us a platform to score.. But the stats show that West Ham had 17 shots which shows our fragility defensively. The only way to close the pores is to buy a reputable DM in this window.
Yep!!

Everyone gets it. Everyone knows that results are all important at the mo. We all get that.

But we can all see that the result TOTALLY flattered us today and that we could have been 2 down and facing big problems if west ham could hit a cows arse with a banjo.
The ease with which a struggling west ham got behind us repeatedly is of huge concern. Our defence is SHOT and a team with a hslf decent striker would have stuck 3-4 past us today.

And its ok to say that. Doesnt make you a huge blue to not have these concerns.

It was always the same even when we were shit, Some people are never happy with a win, Football is a crazy game
nobody knows what the next game holds and we could play somebody off the park and lose.

The Result builds form and confidence and something to believe in, just enjoy the result and the win

Well i am going to rejoice in the win , you moaning twats !

We all know the problems but crying non stop in match threads is not going to make it happen
I'm rejoicing too, but there is no getting away from the fact we were effing lucky in the first half

The win flattered us but I take it. Always.

Positives are that more players get more minutes under their belt, and for once we were clinical.

We need to get back where we were before this dip, and that will take more time than loads on here expect or want. A win helps though

I don’t think the win did but the scoreline definitely did.

Didn't flatter us, we were far better than West Ham, still a way off our best and individual mistakes gave West Ham some chances ,but we were by far the better team.

much more like it going forward today but still very vulnerable at the back - great to see Kev , Saviniho and Erling on good form but it's clear that Gundogan and especially Walker are done at this level

'Twas an impressive scoreline but a less than impressive display. I am puzzled how we can send a pass straight to an opponent. Good that Phil got on the scoresheet. I read on the BBC website at HT that we have scored more goals in the PL this season in the first half than anyone. Is it that the second half shitty displays are trying to mask the shitty reffing?

agree with this every game no wonder the defence struggles at times. It’s the midfield we sort that and we will be back to our best.

I remember that. Awful. And another where, even with numbers back we'd left a player free on the edge of the area. They might have had a lot of shots but we've had plenty this season and not scored from that many. Even in the first minutes we'd got behind them twice and better delivery could have had us in front as easily as the chances they had. I'm not going to let the poor bits spoil a good day.

Pleasant to see us win - particularly as we were nowhere near a good level again.

We got a stroke of luck for the 1st, but then were ruthless with our chances when they came along which West Ham weren't. Savinho's cross for the 2nd was off the scale good.

Our deficiencies remain blatantly clear; the lack of a holding midfield player is the crux of a large percentage of our problems, as we are wide open as ever to teams and 1 pass has the opposition straight in at our back 4. In addition the lack of legs/athleticism in the central area became more glaring as the game progressed with KDB, Bernie and Kova slowing up - we desperately need some physicality and mobility in that area.

Walker and Gundo's cameo's simply highlighted how short we are of legs/athleticism - Gundo just gets old manned far too much and Walker looks shot to pieces and is barely serviceable in any role these days.

Much food for thought - refreshing to see Pep not sugar coat it and point out the faults in today. Overall the result was great - the performance far from it.
