West Ham (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Thanks for the advance warning - at least we'll all be prepared now you've sounded the bells of doom. We know we're not good right now - you posting about it every 30 minutes isn't making any difference.
I'll leave it a couple of hours now if that's OK fella.

Apologies if this has been covered, but I've scrolled through the last few pages and haven't seen it mentioned...

Can anyone in the East Stand confirm if KDB had words with some fans who were getting at Walker in the second half? It happened fairly late on, I think around the time Walker needlessly gave the ball away taking a free kick. KDB was definitely shouting something towards fans sat on that side, but I was too far away to make out what was said and the only thing I could think of was that it was in response to some abuse Walker was getting. Interested to know if anyone caught what he was saying.
A fan, yes.

A bloke got up when Walker gave the ball away trying to pass to McAtee and lost it with Walker. Started calling him ‘****’ this and ‘prick’ that. The players heard the fella and De Bruyne started shouting at him, as did a number of fans around him who backed the players.

The bloke didn’t even care. Just carried on calling him a prick after he sat down.

A game where the chances were converted and they missed most of theirs.

Savinho was a threat and is building up confidence.

Thought Akanji was fortunate to get a foul when dithering on the ball. Playing around at the back these days seems an error waiting to happen.

West Ham really missed Bowen. They will struggle whilst he is out injured.
Give them Bowen fit again if we can have Rodri fit too - and I'd back us to beat them by at least the same score as today.

I disagree. Since his second season I've been calling for Pep to move Grealish inside. He'd be a far better bet covering for Rodri, or as No8 than being marooned on the left, getting the ball giving us a twirl & then passing the ball back or to the side. He rarely shows the cutting edge needed to unpick a 10-man defence from the left wing.
He doesn’t but surely Pep has tried the midfield thing in training and doesn’t like it. He is not good enough at all for me and now Savinho is showing signs that the left is more suited to him, his days may be coming to and end with us.

I can take people making an argument for one thing or another, but to immediately jump into name calling does my head in.

Then quoting people like Pep to back up their assertion, with out of context statements, does it even more.

We can all see the deficiencies, we can all see where we’re improving, and at this point, from where we’re coming from, back to back wins with the side progressing, doesn’t deserve the extreme criticism the team are getting.

Seems like a form of subversion.

The left is perfect for Savinho. He sees the game better and is able to cross better.

Also I prefer bad performances and wins over good ones and loses.

Thanks mate. Assumed it would be something like that. Unusual to see that kind of interaction so thought KDB must have taken exception to something said. Good to see him backing his teammate. Shows they're in it together.

The digging at those who post criticism on here is ridiculous. It's a post match thread; say what you think - just as if you were talking about it with your mates in the pub after the match. We don't all see it the same way.

If someone has a different opinion to you, SFW? Ignore it; laugh and poke fun at it; or argue about the opinion - not their right to express it.

Some of you want to sanitise the place too much and abolish any criticism of the team or Pep. If you're a happy clapper, just respond to the criticism - don't call for it to be silenced. It's a forum!

Well done those fans who backed Walker - short memories some ungrateful folk. He’s been a legend for us and whist he might be in his last season - no need to forget what he’s done for us. Vinicius Junior won’t

Pep makes some baffling moves, but has also shown a stubborn side. Jack starred for England in CM, & played well against Forest (I think) when we played him there.

In Pep's mind, Jack makes us a 4-1-4-1 with him being an additional CM, but on the wing. When we're dominating, Jack helps keep control, but he lacks the cutting edge needed against the usual armour plated defensive walls we face most matches.

Who'd you rather play CDM, Grealish, Gundog or Nunes?

It's nice to win a game and score 4 goals. We are still miles off it, but there were some good moments today. The second and third goals were both fantastic.

West Ham weren't great but had some decent chances themselves.

I hope we can get a few players in this window.

The lack of a top number 6 is the foundation of every problem.
I certainly don't disagree, but I don't think it's the foundation of every problem

I think some problems are simply energy related, some are injury related (e.g. central defense a while ago) and some are in the mind, but I will agree that shape wise and making our own issues stemming from midfield are lack of 6 and lack of cover for 6. The latter baffles me, considering we won every trophy with one.
