Pep has mentioned before that Mcatee just doesnt seem to trust himself and believe he deserves to be with our squad? If they could near enough get the Marmoush fee for Mcatee then i`m sure the club would do that.
It had that feeling about it when McAtee was interviewed just a month or two into the new season in which he had said "I'm just happy to be in and around the squad training with these big players".

Maybe it's not something you want to hear as a manager or maybe some fans have issues with it, In reality he should be saying he wants first team football and thinks he's good enough to be starting games in this side.

He changed the game against Leicester a couple of weeks ago and yet still found himself on the bench against West Ham. He'll start against Salford in the FA Cup you'd imagine, Pretty hard to take after having such a good 30 minutes at Leicester.

Being honest, I'd be shocked if he was a Manchester City player next season.

hardly any moves yet in January across PL, mostly some loaned out players recalled.
Soton got in Brazilian defender Wellington and Tottenham a young Czech GK Kinsky. thats all pretty much so far.

Txiki needs to get on his phone asap.

I want Wirtz, Guimaraes in by next week. Im worried of the Brentford game.

There is no rush City !

Get the feeling the club don’t know if to bring a couple of players in this window or just wait till the summer..wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t bring anyone in but in my opinion we badly need fresh faces in this window..

If Pep has a weakness as a manager IMO it’s that he doesn’t seem to want or be able to convince players they’re good enough or dedicate time to improving the mental game of his players.

If the thing stopping McAtee from helping our season is a lack of belief, it should be a priority to make him believe in himself so he can help the team more. We saw this with Sterling and IMO Sané as well, they are players who need constant encouragement and Arteta gave it to them when he was assistant, and when he left Pep just seemed content to cut them adrift and expect them to sort it out themselves or leave.

There’s also things like Palmer - all he needed to stay was to be told he was good enough and was the future of the team. Either Pep never bothered to do that, or Palmer didn’t believe him, but either way we’re in a much worse position as a club because of it.

There’s definitely some soft man management skills he just doesn’t have, he comes across as more of a university professor who doesn’t really care about the individuals rather than a school teacher trying to get the best out of each student.

Ideally he’d either improve that aspect of his management or make sure he has an assistant that makes up for what he lacks, but that’s seemingly not been the case for a good few years now.

Looking at the bigger picture, I think we have enough to get a top 4 place, Yes maybe a couple of new players will freshen up the squad and then get some players back from injuries, The title is gone long ago and the truth is it was going to happen one day and its happened this season.

But little signs at the weekend that we are getting some firepower back and the build-up to Haaland first goal was City of old, Also KDB has played a couple of 90 minutes and his game is slowly coming back.

But it's scary how open we are in midfield and when we press it only takes one pass and they are out and on the attack, Also the short corner is crazy when our defenders are in the box and we fuck it up

I think they know they want to, I don't think they know if they can get the players they want before the summer.

A couple of hungry new players sends the message though doesnt it and maybe puts a rocket up some arses?

Big dilemma and potential problem for the club. A complete miss management of our transfer strategy in the last couple of transfers windows has led to this. Bit of a shit show.

Don't think it was mis managed. Think they had plenty of reasons for doing what they did. They'd have hoped ithad worked out better obviously. Overall though think waiting until next summer to reboot was the plan.

Panic buying might help make it look like that. Sticking with their ongoing approach and making do with what we have till the summer, does not.

We'll want to bring in players this window, if available. What we won't do is panic buy and end up in a situation where we've got more players who aren't at the required level. There's plenty of talent out there, it's whether we can bring it in this month or not. Whilst the CL place might be at stake without reinforcements, if the club can get it's top targets this month they will. If we can't then we'll wait to the summer. No one wants us to add more mediocrity, that's not going to resolve anything.

We have no midfield, we have no press, we have no defense, we have no one who can find Haaland regularly outside of KDB, Nunes & Savinho and we have enough to get top 4??

Would you get that by trusting the same bunch that have 2 wins in 13 and allowed West Ham to almost get 5 goals vs us??

Need atleast 2 midfielders, a CB & a RB to be able to press and have legs in midfield.

I’d say it has been. Apparently we were not going to bring in a midfielder last summer and Gundogan was just an opportunity that presented itself at the last minute. Madness. Furthermore, to sell Alvarez and not bring in a replacement was beyond ridiculous imo. Then we have players that have been bought that are clearly nowhere near good enough.
