All good buddy.

Simply stating he isn't our level.

Prior to this season and last season his stats have been abysmal.

His stats for Egypt are also abysmal.

For 50M at the age of 25 i would expect much more.

Mo Salah only had 2 good seasons in his career before joining Liverpool age 25 and he’d never scored 20 goals in a season by then. First year at Liverpool at 25 years old he exploded and scored 44 goals. Not saying he is that level but just an example.

That's not fully true though is it, 12 goals and 6 assists in 29 league games last season is hardly abysmal. Mahrez only bettered that return once (1 goal + 1 assist better) for us and I'd argue he was good enough. Going back further he got 3 goals and 5 assists in 21 games (18 games based on minutes) for a poor Stuggart side that finished 15th that year, again isn't abysmal. His worst season came at Wolfsburg with 5 goals and 1 assist in 33 games. No players progression is linear though and there could been a number of reasons for a poor year. His general progression is very similar to Salahs pre Liverpool when you look at his outputs and age and De Bruyne had similar Bundesliga seasons before his best season. Obviously you're entitled to think he's not good enough but the stats argument is one that just seems over played because of his outstanding form when the reality is slightly different.

We lack goals!!!!

I am I on a different planet!!!!???

Our problem is and still remains, whether we sign this bloke or not???

Conceding soft goals !!!!

And no proper CDM’s, to stop the counter attacks!!!???

Can we address the CDM. ,LB & RB issues first, please!!!????
Are you saying you'd rather wait till Haaland gets injured before you consider?

He's a finisher, that's what we need, can play striker, behind the striker he's had a partnership with Ekitiki. Can play either wing. Good technical ability not afraid to put his laces through the ball some of his goals are just hitting the ball hard into the net. We lack that apart from Haaland.

We are desperate for a second goalscorer in the side. We haven't had one since Sterling left. Foden did well last year but he's not a reliable goalscorer. The other wing options are virtually allergic to scoring.

My only concern is having not seen Marmoush much, I'm not convinced he's the goalscoring RW we need, he's doing well as a striker and sometimes plays on the left, where we already have Foden & Savinho.

Most goalscorers in history hit their stride at around 23, so nothing worrying about that

To be fair it was when Mo Salah got his chronic asthma under control that he truly developed…

Think both issues do need addressing this window it’s definitely an issue when our second top goalscorer this season is our left back

The only problem with this is you want to go for players for "free" if we cannot get the mega talents like Wirtz or Musiala, and that just cannot be out mindset, that will hamper progress.
It's not a plan we have to rigidly stick to, it was just specific to this instance where we were interested in a player for a lot of money and there was somebody of a similar calibre available for no money. We've got a big rebuild on our hands. We have a lot of money but its going to be stretched thin in search of everything we need, i saw potential to save money without sacrificing much in my eyes. Is Mamoush £60-80m better than Sane? Maybe he is, I've not been watching the guy for years to be able to say but my initial thought is no he isn't.

Anyway, the entire conversation is seemingly redundant now. Last night the talk was of a summer transfer and everything i said was based on that. New reports are now suggesting an immediate transfer and less money involved rendering all my comments irrelevant.

If we end up signing this lad in January best thing about it for me is that it absolutely erases any doubt about a potentially serious outcome of 115. Zero chance we would do this deal now if there was even a chance we were about to get relegated.
I quoted somebody else just yesterday calling the idea we havent spent much in the last few windows being down to the 115 charges as nonsense and this is the exact same thing just on the other end of the spectrum. There's no correlation for you to get to that conclusion.

He can play behind the striker with a Savio or Foden.

He floats in that Frankfurt side. Goes Left wing , cam, right wing and striker its like he's got freedom to float between multiple positions. His goals this season some from the left , some from the right and some from the middle. Its similar to how Kev didn't have a position at Wolfsburg. Look at his heat map its everywhere
