EFL Cup | Semi-Finals | 7/8 Jan & 5/6 Feb '25

Enjoyed that. Not sure arsenal fans did though, half empty with 15 minutes left...

Thought Howe went too defensive too soon and felt there was a killer third in it for them but fair play, he called it right, they looked solid and rarely stretched. Don't think arsenal had a shot on target all game. They're useless without their set pieces, even Stoke had more of a threat from open play. Delightful to see that snide Arteta constantly looking at his watch as if hes ever intimidating anybody. You reap what you sow you horrible twat. Was some booing at the end but barely audible as there was more newcastle fans in the ground celebrating by the whistle. Won't be long before the boo's ring loudly for the £800m Stoke.

Arse can play football, especially against relegation fodder, but in a semi final at home, I saw fck all from havertz, odegaard, partey, rice, trossard? Think martinelli at least tried.

Thought saliba and Gabriel weren't great either. They will drop away in the PL, let's hope they end the rags season this weekend.

Newcastle were terrific, Isak and Gordon were class. Hopefully they'll get the job done and beat the ferals in the final.

Annoying result that. Not just because a 2 goal win for Newcastle was a travesty but the tie isn't quite over so it means we'll probably play a strong team in the return leg. Rather lose 4-0 with tie over and play the kids.

On the positive side it means Dippers likely through to final so an extra game for them to slot in.
Traversty. I Know you're biased, but you didn't do enough to get anything out of that game.

Just another proof that without energy you cannot be considered a serious top contender in EPL or the cups. Ncsl are sitting on some big fountain right now, and that 5-5 in defence was fun to watch. They really look a proper team.

Enjoyed watching the last part of that but can someone explain the following. Commentator said Jorginho hadn’t scored a goal other than a penalty in five years then when he stuck one over the bar he said something along the lines of it was nearly a goal and he’s got that in his locker. So which one is it then? As for playing a 5 5 0 formation I wish we would do that when two up….

Subtle 8-)

No travesty, that's Football.

Arse trophy drought likely to continue. Captain Black surely on borrowed time?
TBH I didn't view the EPL as a major trophy so if we turn this around and win the trophy I don't think it gets Arteta off the hook. He needs to win the PL or CL - even the FA Cup is a bit 'meh'.

That being said without a major turnaround we won't win the PL. The CL is a bit of a lottery but I don't see us troubling the better defences to win that. So is Arteta on borrowed time? Well the pressure will ramp for sure. He'll get next season for sure as he's transformed the club but at some stage the hierarchy will be wondering if he's the guy to get us across the line. Thing is if he goes who else can we get in who is better? Pep won't come to Arsenal. What's the alternative?

I fancy the Rags to turn them over.
Unlikely we'll miss as many chances again as we did again plus Rags are a worse team than Newcastle. Supposedly Newcastle are the in form team however despite not being anywhere near our best we should have beaten them - just couldn't get the ball in the net tonight.

Suspect it'll be a 4-0 Arsenal vs the Rags or something like that. I wouldn't mind if we sacked off the FA Cup as I don't rate the trophy however it's probably the only thing we can win this season.
