Well within their rights to be cheeky bastards. He's their player and his value to them and their season (given it's January) is a lot higher than just face/market value.

But. They did get him for free. And I doubt we'll pay the £80m and I doubt they'll risk having an unhappy player in their ranks mid-season. I presume it's public posturing and it'll get done at a comprised figure both clubs are fine with.

Personally, I refused to get excited about transfer until a random Italian newspaper says a player has 'packed his bags'.
 


Important to note that this guy is a very shady source and even if you notice his last sentence he says "negotiations have not started between the 2 clubs" so it may very well be that Frankfurt accept 60 million euros.
 
While i do not think this is a January priority, it seems like we are very close, SKY Germany yesterday said City had agreed, a fee of £50 million including bonuses. Now i find those that give more information, tend to be more accurate, i also like it when a selling club, believes in a player enough that they believe, they can achieve those bonuses. needless to say SKY UK claim City have bid over £60 million. Hmmmm

My guess is that the fee will depend on the make up of instalments, as ever.

Think it will be base fee around £40/50m then heavy performance based add ons
 
Or alternatively it's the likes of Darmeth Sheath and his German sky counterpart trying to make it sound like they have mates on the board at each club who can't help but spill the beans to their good mate in the media.

As much a story are within their rights, everyone knows nowadays that City walk away if the price isn't right, and the news coming out of Napoli may make the player, his agent and Frankfurt all a little more nervous. It's not a priority position for us so would come down to whether we think he's the primary target in the position and nobody else if available, if Frankfurt won't budge.

A week ago, he wasn't for sale. BUT, every player had a price, & if City made an incredible offer Frankfurt couldn't refuse, say €80m, then a deal could be done this window.

Either Frankfurt are sticking to this narrative from a week ago, or this tweet is rehashing old news. Whichever way, the player has a fantastic opportunity in front of him, & he'll have a major say in his future.

He apparently wants the move to City & only City this window, but he also wants to do right by Frankfurt. Looking like £50m plus £10m in add-ons might get the deal done.

So that 80m euros is 67m pounds.

I can see a potential 55+10 in add ons deal getting across the line.

That would be a great deal.
 
meet them in the middle

50m fee, extra 3.5 for every PL or CL title in his 5 year contract. and 50000 pounds for every goal and assist he gets. another 15K for every starts. on football manager sometimes I add in a friendly game in the summer. throw in 10% sell on fee.
