Nice to see us put in a thoroughly professional performance and actually keep it going right to the end. Far too often we faff about and sit back when we go a few up.
Pleased for McAtee, he took his goals very well, fairly reminiscent of prime time Gundogan. Doku had a field day, O'Reilly was strong and skillfully, you wouldn't have guessed that wasn't his usual position.

O’Reilly was superb there tonight. He glided past players with ease.

Mubama was far better than I was expecting. He had good movement, strength and put himself about really well. His movement was infectious to others too.

Thought McAtee was pretty poor for an hour, but then superb for the last 30 mins.

Haaland could do worse that watch McAtee’s movement when he scored Doku’s cross.

Doku destroyed their right back. He’ll need counselling for a while after that.

Simpson-Pusey impressed quietly and efficiently too.



Salford were beyond shit though.

All in all, a gr8 day out.

He wasn't left back he was left cb in a three
Have to say he looked class in that position winning the ball and carrying it forward.
 
I also thought Grealish did well, if a little hesitant at times, was happy he scored his penalty.

We’ve had fans moan - “Nunes made the mistakes against United because he’s not a left back”

Salford aren’t United standard (but not far off!) and O’Reilly, a CM, put in a quality, assured performance being played out of position.

There was a comment near the end when they had a free kick and I’m sure I heard the commentator say, come on smash it in the city net or something like that. Murphy had Savinho diving when he was clearly fouled and there were a couple of other things too. If they didn’t want to witness that, they should have chosen a different game!

That picture of Scholes is great though! They also panned to him first half when he looked like he had fallen asleep!
