It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

Kimmich is gonna be 30 in like a month.

I hope we arent going in for him.

Its good to not get young players, but I still want them closer to their prime years (23 - 27).
Prime is literally 30-32. Football manager and FIFA is ruining peoples idea of age.

I would have loved Kimmich a few years ago. I don’t think he fits the age group the club wants now, we are building a squad for the future.

I’m hoping that City are saving some money up for the Summer window and go for two top midfielders like Zubimendi and Wirtz.

Zubimendi just seems to want to stay in Spain mate? £51m release clause and we will have asked no doubt about that but he seems to be happy where he is.

He has said he regrets turning Liverpool down so I don’t think that’s true. I can imagine he doesn’t want to move mid season though.

Probably wants reassurances for when Rodri is fit, which is fair enough. Maybe we’ve been talking to his side as haven’t heard about CM yet.

I guess if he gave us a concrete yes for the summer then getting Luiz in on loan would be ok?

Nah no way.

All my life of watching football that hasnt been true.

Generally, footballers reach their peak by 29 - 30, and slowly go downhill from there.

I know, but to appease I put a slightly higher number lol.

One could argue that by 29, the experience gained can somewhat offset the minimal decline at that age.

But aftee 30 its defo all down hill.
We have Walker and KDB in the squad that are 34 & 33. Last few years they’ve been the best in the world in their positions, but now they have dropped off.

Players reach the very best part of their career around 30 and it’s mad some of you on here can’t see that.

Walker and KdB were definitely better when they were 28 - 30.

Go look back at KdB from like 2017 - 2020, so youthful and explosive.

They have noticeably declined in ability these last 4 years.

Utter nonsense, how many 30 year olds have we signed since we've been successful?

You get someone on big wages with no sell on value. That's how the rags have been running their club for the last decade, older players after a last big contract, and how's it worked out for them?

I don't play football manager or FIFA but thanks for patronising everyone who doesn't agree with your view.

The answer is 27. Google it. There are so many studies on it. Of course there are exceptions but most follow the same rule.

Look at all the average age of squads on transfermarkt. It’s not a coincidence.
