Every season I see numerous posts about Scot’s being at games in Portugal. For sure a great league for up and coming talent but we have scouts everywhere.

I know that, but there is normally one or two reports about Portugal there’s been a report every month since September of us scouting important Porto games. So I’m just taking a guess someone has caught our eye to do that.

Exactly so. You could have added - no DM, no cover for CF, 3 out of 4 CBs regularly injured, an increasingly legless, ageing MF core of Gundo, KDB, Kova & Bernie plus Foden & Grealish just not at it.
Pep is out of aces and a third of January gone with no new recruits yet and not a sniff of a desperately needed DM.
Forget last night - it's looking very bleak for us right now.

All our issues are not just down to having no dm. Our issues are down to having no midfielders that can play between the lines, with Rico and Kovacic losing the ball while passing it 2 yards to each other, in the middle of the field.
Forwards are making good runs and we are not finding them. We are then losing the ball and teams are just booting it over the defence and into the channels. We have absolutely no recovery pace to get back..
We would be far better getting fast defenders and someone who can find attackers making a run.
At the start of our bad run, we were playing well and ran out of steam in the matches. We then got more injuries and lost all confidence.
It's not a clear cut case of getting a DM as it will solve all our problems.
I would go as far as saying that having different attacking options through the middle and pace in defence will benefit us more than getting a DM.
Rodri is not a DM. He is a total footballer.

People used to think Rodri was slow and ponderous, and when he first came here maybe he was, but not before his injury. He covers more ground than Bernardo, who we all lauded as being everywhere and working his bollocks off. He is faster for pace than, Bernardo, Gundogan, Kovacic.

When Rodri comes back we may have to wait a while before the Rodri we have come to love and respect gets back to his true level. In the meantime we need someone who can do Rodri’s running between both boxes.

Yes labelled as Plodri by some. Yet he’s clearly one of the best players in the world now.

I agree with that, but I'd go further and say that it's likely that Rodri will not get back to his previous level of greatness, or will be injury prone in coming seasons (He hasn't been injury prone, but he'll be 29 in June when he comes back and will have been out of action for a long, long time). For those reasons we should get the best possible cover for him when we need it - now! Worry about having 2 DM's next year, if or when Rodri gets back to near his old levels. Excellent rotation will be brilliant for him, and City, and Gundo and Kova - alone or together - are inadequate against the top teams.

And, we need an oven-ready replacement for KDB and Walker too. KDB already needs to miss every other game, it seems.

Pep doesn't trust the kids, so let's splash the cash and kick-on this season, rather than waiting for the summer - they'll all be needed for the Club World Cup anyway.
