During the summer, Pep spoke about ManUre replacing an ageing squad too late 13 years ago & said it's something City will avoid doing. 3 months into the season, the age of our squad was cruelly exposed through injuries & not having the quality replacements in the squad ready to step in/up.

What we're doing now should've been done last summer. My thinking is our current targets were earmarked for this summer, but the way our season's fell apart has brought forward these acquisitions forward to January, where we'll now have to pay a winter transfer tax. Well so be it.

Pep looks pissed. He doesn't want a wasted season & to fix it during the summer. He wants to finish the season strongly, so he'd rather fix what he can now, & mend & make do with ageing players returning from injury, another situation to be addressed in the summer.

The WCC at best will be seen as an early pre-season for us. Guardiola has already lamented that this competition immediately puts City & Chelsea at a disadvantage for next season, as there'll be little time to rest between the end of the season & start of the WCC, & the end of the competition & start of the PL & CL.

In response to FIFA warning clubs that they need to bring their star players, Pep snapped back that he & only he selects his squads & teams. We'll certainly try to win the WCC, but from what I can surmise, it's not a massive priority for Guardiola.
 
So our team might line up in February like this.

Ederson
Khusanov Dias Ake Gvardiol
Kovacic
Foden Bernardo
Savinho Haaland Marmoush

Which looks a big improvement especially when the bench will look like this

Bobb
Doku
McAtee
O'Reilly
Akanji
Stones
De Bruyne
Grealish
Ortega
Lewis
Gundogan

However the big red flag is Kovacic. Not because he's no good, but because he's no good there.

This squad however should be able to get top 4.
 
So we are looking at

Bah, Echeverri & McFarlane as more long term signings but happening in Jan.

Khusanov and Marmoush first team right away.

Wait and see with Reis.

Still after a midfielder.

Got to love the piss boiling. Dirty oil club money is back.

Bro, you need to chill. We're a legit DM away from being CL contenders again. And I will guarantee you we're getting one. Your about 2 to 3 weeks behind...

Yeah it's a very weird post.

I could understand if we weren't making any moves in the market but we're easily the most active team so far. 1 player having a medical, another very close to being agreed and were negotiating with another team for another, so 3 signings that are likely to happen. No midfielder yet but all credible journos saying were looking for one. There's plenty of time to sort it aswell, so I don't get the angst.

I think it’s all happening in the background. Don’t think it’s gonna be a huge name. Personally would like it to be Lamine Camara but he only joined Monaco last season difficult to get him out of them in January.
