This season... the two teams we've played who were astonishingly shite, are Salford and BratislavaSalford were probably the poorest team ever to play at the Etihad , in fact they were embarrassing.
I thought your lads did ok and showed a lot of spirit. The gulf in class and fitness was very evident. I gave your captain (Lint) man of the match.Fully expected us to get beat by whatever team you were going to put out but certainly not by eight clear goals. Always wanted us to remain competitive for as long as possible but as soon as that early opener went in I knew it was going to be a long hard afternoon. Were we poor and you very good? Can only say yes to both although my main disappointment wasn't the final scoreline but the fact that we looked like a team who hadn't played together before and without any organised structure. We gave you far too much space and time on the ball, constantly backed off, lost the one on one tussles and quite honestly, other than really late on, never really looked like scoring just once to give us something to cheer about.
Other than when the teams came onto the pitch and at the very start of the game it was obvious that with the 'regular' vocal supporters being spread all over that the top tier that our varied repertoire of songs wouldn't stand a chance of being sung or heard only to be replaced repeatedly by quite frankly monotonous anti-City songs. Add to that the clowns in front of me and my mates who spent the whole afternoon frothing at the mouth while gesticulating to the home supporters made for an all together embarrassing but I suppose predictable scenario from non genuine Salford supporters.
As a lover of lower and non-league football I have to say though that I couldn't watch football week in and week out in huge (although impressive looking) super-bowl like stadiums which is obviously par for the course at the highest level. While having a perfect view from the top tier I felt an unreal sense of disconnect being so far away from the action. I guess it's what you're used to but it definitely isn't for me. Give me leaky roofs and leaning on pitch side railings every time!
From our point of view I'm pretty confident that manager Karl Robinson can and will pick the players up after Saturday's mauling ahead of our league game against Fleetwood Town this coming weekend. Certainly hope so!
All the best ............

Arsenal are always the most embarrassing.Salford were probably the poorest team ever to play at the Etihad , in fact they were embarrassing.
Imagine as owners having to drop 75K a week on that, Gary Neville business man extraordinaire indeed!Salford were probably the poorest team ever to play at the Etihad , in fact they were embarrassing.
I don't think that's really a fair comment, we have been off it recently but we're still the reigning champions.Enjoyed being in 111 instead of 316 for a change.
Salford were shockingly bad. Burton , Scunthorpe , Wycombe etc have given better accounts of themselves in recent years.
Non league level at best
Don't forget good old Frank Bough although these days wearing a frock and snorting coke is pretty mainstream for the BBC.
Exactly. We weren't even out of 1st gear at the weekend, having hopefully come out of a poor run of form. They were really bad.I don't think that's really a fair comment, we have been off it recently but we're still the reigning champions.
Thought it was WhitesideThe Salford Manager Karl Robinson (?) seems like too nice a guy to be involved with that lot.
So I’m guessing you didn’t go during Stuart Pearce’ reign?Salford were probably the poorest team ever to play at the Etihad , in fact they were embarrassing.
Can I ask what do the real fans feel about your big day out being hijacked by fans of another club and what has your club said. Would they have been better only taking the normal PL allocation of 3k and just having genuine fans attend. All the 'City get battered' and nursery rhymes that were being sung were frankly embarrassing. Good luck in the league.Fully expected us to get beat by whatever team you were going to put out but certainly not by eight clear goals. I think if you had given us an allocation for the real fans only then probably 2k would have been more than sufficient! Take also into consideration that our average away following is less than 200 with the exception of some of the more local games. I have no idea how many United fans would have been in attendance (or why they would have even bothered) but I certainly think that there was a large proportion of Salford based people who where there for the 'occasion'. I suppose we're no different to any other lower level club who draw top flight opposition with respect to 'you only come to the big games' followings and the club themselves certainly aren't going to state the fact in the hope that some people are interested enough to come back for future games. Agree about the repetitive 'chants'. Would much rather have heard our own supportive songs. Visiting team . Been going since 1969 so seen a huge amount of shite .So I’m guessing you didn’t go during Stuart Pearce’ reign?
I was pulling your leg a little bud :)Visiting team . Been going since 1969 so seen a huge amount of shite .
What was the deal with Giggs being on the touchline? Does he do that for all games or was it just because he was on the telly?I think if you had given us an allocation for the real fans only then probably 2k would have been more than sufficient! Robinson has been very complimentary about City and Pep when we've played his teams.Thought it was Whiteside

You have to give Robinson some credit though - 15 years asa manager from age 29 is pretty good and he seems to speak wellThey brought 200 to us the first away game of there season fooking 200 less an hour away ...........as for Karl Robinson he has anything about him he would walk away
