Tricky away games coming up. If we can get wins at Brentford and Ipswich it will look a lot better. But Brentford in particular worry me!

With our next set of fixtures I’m starting to think we will be playing europa league next season

Europa League is not to be sniffed at although we cannot afford to make it a regular occurance.

If Pep gets a top 4 finish out of this lot it’ll rank amongst his best achievements at City.
Not a chance if we buy 2 young inexperienced centre halfs…. Instead of positions we are desperate for now, RB, LB, DM, AM, SS….

We have made huge errors since the Treble. And we are in danger of compounding things if were not very careful

Not a chance of top 4 with this team. 40 points is usually a guarantee of premier league safety. City are 5 points short of that total, with games against Chelsea, Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool coming up shortly. Let’s get safe first, then discuss where we may finish in the PL at the end of the season!

Lucky that Chelsea keep dropping clangers. Hopefully Newcastle's form goes off a cliff soon.

That said, I wouldn't say no to a season in the Europa League.

One positive to take tonight

Liverpool now can’t afford to drop ANY points in their last 18 games if they’re gonna be centurions
That just shows what an amazing achievement that was, and why it was never done before and probably not again in many of our lifetimes. I don't think that team get as much credit as they deserve outside of the club. Centurions.

Following Ipswich (and im not confident there either) the fixtures are horrific!!

You should start a race to 40 points thread.

Same here.. which is obviously why I want us to keep our record of being the only team to ever get 100 points. Not that hard to understand?
If you gave me the choice of being the sole centurions, or winning another pl/CL title, I'd choose the latter every time. Don't get me wrong; records are all very nice. And it was a fantastic achievement. But we need to look forward, not back. Not be resting on our laurels. Which we seem to have done in the last few transfer windows. We've somehow buffed our way through the last couple of seasons. But it's caught up with us now. The way we're going, we won't get much more than half that amazing total.

I too would quite enjoy the europa league. It’s a trophy we have never won and we would prob win it.

But the financial ramifications would be huge for the club. So would the summer recruitment. Would set us back years.

No, thank you. All that travelling to the arse end of Europe, playing on thursdays then on the following sunday. And there's precious little financial incentive to take part in it.

Peanuts compared to the Champions League.

We’ve got money coming in from Club World Cup, the north stand expansion and Etihad renewal rumoured to be about £90mil.

We’re the only team to have not dropped out of CL spots in the past 10 years. We’ve also got a very healthy net spend. It’d hurt, but it would by no means be the end of the world.
